Dublin. I don't have a lot on them but I do have: St. Columba's Churchyard (C of I), Swords cemetery marker: "Erected by their daughters in memory of James Sandford who died Sept 26th,1854 age 40 years; also their beloved mother, Margaret Sandford, who died May 25th 1859 aged 49 years. Not gone from memory, not from love. But gone to our father's home above. Also their son-in-law, Walter B. Phillips who died on the 8th day of June 1901 aged 56 years. Heb. 7.25. Also his wife Sarah who died 2nd Dec. 1917 aged 73 years. Prov. 10.22" Thomas Directory for Dublin and County Dublin (1850) lists James Sandford, Draper, etc. of Swords. I also know that James Sandford, Sr (born about 1763) was the post master in Swords. My line is a son of James, William, who married Mary Anne Stewart in Swords. Hope this helps a little. I have Katherine Sandford, who was born in 1652 in Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire County, England and died about 1684 in Old Rappahannock, York County, Virginia and married Robert Hopkins about 1668 in Old Rappahannock, York County, Virginia, but as I was trying to find out who Katherine's parents were, I saw that several people have listed her father as John Scrope, who was born about 1625 in Bolton, Lancashire County, England and died about 1646 in London, Middlesex County, England and I was wondering why would Katherine have a different surname from her father? My thinking is that she married a Mr. Sandford before she married Robert Hopkins and I was wondering if anyone could please help me answer this question? I believe the company was founded by the Sandford family, who also resided in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois. The family may have also owned a carrige manufacturing company too. John Sandford b. 1864 in Canada worked there as a machinist/slot machine manufacturer in 1930. His wife's name was Johanna (Hannah) Sandford. Amos Sanford and his wife Mary (Clugston / Cluckstone) of Fairfield and Sharon CT had a son John born in February 1767 in Sharon CT who is said to have married, either in CT or Columbia, Albany or Rensselaer Co NY, a woman whose first name is unknown but her surname was ROOS or RUSS. One of the families thought to be the most likely one from which John Sanford’s bride came is the Johan Pieter ROOS family of Columbia Co NY (Albany Co before 1786). Johan Peter ROOS / sometimes RUSS of Albany / Columbia Co NY had at least four daughters born between 1766 and 1772::: Catharina, Anna Magdalena, Anna Maria and Gerdruyt any of whom might have married John Sanford. Does anyone have any information that could confirm that one of those daughters, or someone else, married John Sanford, probably in about 1790 ?
