I'm a descendant of Isaac and Mary (Towne) Estey, but of course, history has recorded her name as "Easty". Are there other small name changes that may have occurred subsequent, and perhaps due to involvement in the Trials?? I say a note about Hathorne's grandson inserting a W and becoming Nathaniel Hawthorne, to distance himself from the actions of his grandfather during the Trials. I think a more comprehensive listing of the Salem Witch Trial descendants would be an excellent idea. In this modern age, would such a thing be published? Who would buy it (I mean the publishers) or would we have to self-publish? Or perhaps simply post on the web. My family stayed "estey's until about the civil war, when an Estey daughter married a Dieffenbaugh, then another daughter married a Meyer. I identify primarily as a Meyer, although as a daughter of a daughter of a daughter....my last name is Hopkins. You know how it goes. I'm in Portland,Oregon.
