On the Alfred A Knopf publisher website, there are some advance blurbs for the forthcoming Mary Beth Norton book on the 1692 Salem witchcraft crisis "In the Devil's Snare" This book will publish for $30.00 and according to Barnes & Noble(bn.com) will publish on Sep 10th. The "blurbs" indicate that Dr. Norton's focus is wider-spread than just the Salem area and brings to the fore the effect of past, current and possible future attacks on settlements by Native Americans had on the psyche of residents as the real major reasons for the witchcraft crisis. Of course, this is just what I gleaned from the blurbs and we won't know until the book comes out and we have a chance to read it ourselves. Cindy Abel
