As the researcher responsible fo putting the Boyer & Nissenbaum "Salem Witchcraft Papers" (SWP) online (with permission of Da Capo Press), I might comment on the question about the archival sources of the original documents, as listed in the SWP. At the end of each document, the SWP indicates the name of the archive that holds the original document. Most are in the collection of the Peabody and Essex Museum (over 500 items). Several dozen are in the collection of the Mass Historical Society. Several dozen are also in the Boston Public Library and the New York Public Library. Most archives are not in the habit of photocopying documents for researchers, as they are very fragile, but they are available for consultation. They are also available on mircofilm. The documents held by the Peabody and Essex Musem have also been renumbered and recatalogued according to the new numbers, and thus the Boyer and Nissebaum numbers no longer apply. But they can make the translation.
