Martha ALLEN, born 1642-1650; died 19 August 1692 in hung Salem Essex MA. She was the daughter of 2. Andrew ALLEN* and 3. Faith INGALLS*. She married (1) Thomas CARRIER 7 May 1674. Notes Martha Allen Carrier brought smallpox to Andover in 1690 when she came there to stay with her mother, who was a widow. Martha and her four children, Andrew, Richard, Sarah and Thomas were "unscathed"; I suppose this means they did not contract the disease. The disease invaded nearly every household in Andover and killed 9 people, including both of Martha's brothers, as well as the husband of her sister Hannah [James Holt] and their infant son.
