Dear Janet, Margo, et al: Thank you very much for your mails about Witch City. Unfortunately, I was not able to view it (not having TV!). I was interested in the reviews nonetheless. One of the things I found interesting was the influx of Wiccans into Salem. It seems as though they find Salem (Danvers?) some kind of a Mecca. To me, however, this contradicts the idea that the witch trial victims were innocent of practicing forbidden religions, whether it be Satanism, Wicca or even the Quaker religion (a big no-no in Puritan New England). Are these modern day witches functioning on the assumption that the victims were, in fact, practicing witchcraft? This notion is contrary to everything I have heard and read about the subject.
