    1. [SALEM-WITCH-L] Mary Beth Norton lecture on TV

    3. Greetings! Last Friday I braved the crowds in Salem for "Haunted Happenings" and attended Mary Beth Norton's lecture “Myth and Reality of Salem Witchcraft” at the Salem Atheneum, based on her new book "In the Devil's Snare." She began by outlining the standard story of Salem as most people know it (a group of teenage girls practicing fortune-telling under the tutelage of Tituba, the Black or mulato slave of Rev. Parris, etc...), and point by point, explain what her research showed were errors and omissions. It was really terrific! Wish you could have been there? Sorry you missed it? I have learned that her presentation of that same lecture was taped in Boston at the Mass. Historical Society on Oct. 16th and should be aired on CSPAN2, BookTV this coming Sat 11 PM Eastern time and Sunday 8 PM Eastern time! Cheers, Margo Margo Burns, List Owner of the Salem-Witch List at rootsweb.com margo@ogram.org

    3. Hi Maro, Wish I had known about this. I don't have a tv or I'd catch it on Cspan. Such is life. If you hear of anyone selling copies either a cassette, disc or vcr let me know. Thanks.
