    1. [SALEM-WITCH-L] Lecture this afternoon in Salem!
    2. Margo Burns
    3. Sorry I didn't get this out earlier! This is a terrific book that is the result of twenty-six years of meticulous research by list-member Marilynne Roach, so I am *really* remiss -- but it's not too late to snap up a copy of her book! She details a whole host of historical details in which the witchcraft trials took place, including weather, arrival of news from abroad, and yes, details of the Indian war on the Eastward. Lecture/Book Signing The Salem Witch Trials Sunday, October 27, 2 p.m. Reservations by October 26 Members $10, nonmembers $13 Phillips Library Author Marilynne K. Roach, a recognized authority on the Salem witch trials, conducted much of the twenty years of research for her new book at the Phillips Library of the Peabody Essex Museum. She has written a day-by-day narrative of the trials as the citizens of Salem experienced the outbreak of hysteria, authenticating every fact with the discovery of previously unknown documents and newly found cases and court records. The Salem Witch Trials offers a revelatory and compelling view of events that have marked Salem for more than three hundred years. A book-signing reception follows the lecture.
