    1. [SALEM-WITCH-L] Confiscated property - Stoughton Papers?

    3. Would records of what happened to confiscated property be in the papers of William Stoughton? Looking at my notes taken when I was really into researching what happened in 1692, I find that I wrote: "Governor Phips objected that Stoughton seemed to rush to send accused women of property to their deaths, and that the Governor did not like it that Stoughton hurriedly seized their property and disposed of it quickly without the governor's knowledge or consent." I must have gotten the above out of a book. Sorry, I did not write down the source. Do "William Stoughton Papers" exist -- and do they contain records of the Salem trials and confiscated property? -- Helen Greenslit Graves
