My line of descent from Abigail is: Susanna North/George Martin b. 1623/ca. 1618; m. 11 Aug 1646 Abigail Martin/James Hadlock b. 10 Sept. 1659/ca. 1654; m. Amy Bowley/Joshua Moody b. 5 July 1812/5 May 1808; m. 4 July 1829 Thomas Gage Moody/Elizabeth Ann Church b. 11 Feb. 1842/1 July 1842; m. 31 Oct. 1868 Frank Gage Moody/Mary Wheeler Stooke b. 19 Dec. 1870/?; m. 1893 Minnie Alma Moody/Martin William Carter Stratton b. 5 Apr 1894/10 July 1893; m. 26 June 1919 Mary Frances Stratton/Merle George Andrew b. 23 June 1923/14 Sep. 1917; m. 25 Apr. 1947 Kathy Louise Andrew/Sammie Gerald Smith b. 29 Feb. 1948/1 Feb. 1947; m. 25 May 1975 I will have to get my line of descent through Jane from my mother. It is also through the Bowley line. I am also descended from Mary Bradbury through her daughter Jane (True). There is quite a contrast between these two women. I did a college paper about them a couple of years ago for a class on the history of women in the U.S. Regards, Kathy Smith
In a posting, someone mentioned the Daughters of Salem Witches. Do you have contact information for them? I thought they were no longer in existance as an organization. Thanks. Debbie Martin (Descendant of Susanna North Martin)
Hi, Just found your site. Ann Pudeator is a direct ancestor of mine. Her first husband, Thomas Greensleet died at sea, I believe. >From this marriage they had a son named James, who changed the spelling of his name to Grinslett. He had a daughter named Hannah. This is my line. A good friend is a member of the Daughters of Salem Witches. Can you tell me if they have a web site? Deborah Ray Piper Rockport,IN
Several people asked me for this information: The Issue of "The Second Boat", dedicated to the Salem Witch Trials, vol. 13, no. 4, October, 1992 is available for $5 including postage and handling to Pentref Press,PO Box 2782, Kennebunkport, ME 04046. This Journal is also in larger libraries. Allow several weeks for delivery. Sue
Sorry,my mistake. It's the ancestry of Nancy Nurse, direct descendant of Rebecca Towne Nurse. Nancy stitched a sampler in 1807 which is at the Danvers Historical Society. No ancestry of Rebecca...but a story "Rebecca Nurse's Silence Taken As Sign of Her Guilt". Several descendencies from Rebecca Nurse. Sue

Was is an article in a "magazine" or was the whole issue about the > Witchcraft Trials? > Bonnie The entire issue, except for the queries at the end, was dedicated to the trials. Pentref Press sells back issues of "The Second Boat", but their web site is down temporarily. Here is the address:THE SECOND BOAT, PO Box 398, Machias, ME, 04654 I usually find the URL by searching "Pentref Press". But, I know the URL is down, from their connection to the RICE list. I found a copy of a journal called "The Second Boat" Vol.13, number 4, October, 1992. The whole issue is dedicated to the Salem Witch Trials. Lots of lineage, ancestry of Rebecca Nurse, The House of Seven Gables, There is a directory of people researching each name, with mailing addresses (no email). Sue
I am interested in getting more information about the group Associated Daughters of Early American Witches. I've visited their website at www.adeaw.org and e-mailed them from the site for membership information. The e-mail was returned as not on the yahoo list. Does anyone know if the group is functioning, what the correct e-mail address is or how to contact them otherwise? Thanks for any help. Noel Martin Gessner

I believe there really isn't any current parallel to the madness in Puritan Massachusetts, but that won't stop me <grin>. 1. Anyone seeking or holding public office who has mistakes in his past, or flaws in his character. 2. Anyone with deeply principled objections to some of the values of our culture (i.e., anyone who is "intolerant"). 3. Moslems with Middle-eastern accents, especially in airports. 4. And the closest parallel, inconvenient unborn children. Darrell A. Martin descendant of Abigail Dane Faulkner . . . John Putnam, too [email protected]

Thank you Jonathan Lathrop for placing that very good article from Time Mag. on the Internet. As a direct descendant of Martha Allen Carrier it was a pleasure to read a well researched study of the August 1692 slaughter. It is my hope that we have learned from our mistakes. Hello! I am a descendent of Giles Cory and his first wife. Their daughter Margaret married a Clevas, and a daughter by that marriage married a Conant, I believe. The line comes down to Roswell Douglass who married Adeline Warren and they lived in Lowell, Mass. near the start of the 19th century, where Roswell founded one of the first textile mills. Any one out there have any info on whether a printed geneology exists for Giles Corey? -- Judi in Atlanta
