1. Re: [SAINSBURY] Richard Matthias Sainsbury, Bridgwater, Somerset, early XIXth
2. I don't have any direct information, but the combination of clockmaker and Bridgewater is of interest to me. My ggg grandfather was John Saintsbury ( 1766 - 1822 ) who between 1804ish to 1822 lived in Cowcross London, and had a clock and watch toolmaker warehouse. His wife Ann (surname unknown but possibly DAVIS) was born in Bridgewater abt 1768. In spite of much research I have not yet found his origins or marriage. I noted in a listing from "West Country Watchmakers and Clockmakers" I found on the web a Richard Sainsbury 1765 Bridgwater. ( http://freespace.virgin.net/paul.mansfield1/clockmkr.txt). Is he your Richard Sainsbury? Do you have any siblings for this family? With thanks Jenni

3. Jenni, Thanks for the information. I guess the Richard in the listing you gave me is a little too old to be the one I'm researching, but there is almost certainly a connection there. I would like to obtain copies or browse the Bridgwater parish registers, and will let you know when/if I do.
