I am researching the SAINSBURY family from Market Lavington and in particular a JAMES SAINSBURY who was born about 1812/1813 at Easterton (this is based on the age shown on the 1851 Census). As the parish of Easterton did not exist until 1875 i have searched both the parishes of West Lavington and Market Lavington with no success. JAMES SAINSBURY married HARRIET POWELL on 16th May 1841 at Market Lavington at which time his father was named as JAMES SAINSBURY.I have tried to identify JAMES SAINSBURY before his marriage to HARRIET POWELL hoping that he would be living with his parents.Unfortunately both the parishes of Market Lavington and Easterton have not survived. There are various baptism entries on the IGI for the period surrounding 1813 with the father named as JAMES but with no other information it is difficult to confirm the correct entry.I would be interested to know if any members of the SAINSBURY group can help. Regards JAMES TURNER

My gggrandmother (Jane Sainsbury) was born in Shrewton c. 1815. Her father was Benjamin. Very interested in hearing from anyone who might have suggestions about doing research on the family. Many thanks, Herb Clark, Florida.

I joined this list (along with several others) to check for spelling variations in my Saxbury surname. The Saxbury name has been spelled as Saxby, Siebury, Sixberry, Socbery, Lisbury, and many variations thereof which has me looking at other similiar names for the possibility of a connection. Best of luck to all, Barbara Freeman http://members.aol.com/saxbury

Lovely to hear from you. Sorry I can't help with your Giles Sansbury. I have done a lot of work on my Sainsbury and ? Saintsbury family in London in the early part of the 19thC. Also I have collected a lot of information about several families mostly either literary or bookselling and printing in London. I am now looking at records in the Public Record Office, Guildhall Library and the British Library. I have used the family search site, isn't it terrific, I have found some people for another of my families. Best Wishes Jenni
I joined this list two weeks ago, and have posted to it twice. I have only ever seen my postings but no messages from anyone else. Am I the only person on the list?? Or the only person researching the surnam SAINSBURY?
