Otta, We have Owen's line down to Sarah Sackett Moore (1706-1790). If you could supply basic information on subsequent generations, I will add the data to your member's page which I will compile ready for the next website update at the end of the month. Please either send the information by email to this list or, if you prefer, send it to me with a copy to our historian Thurmon King <thurmon.king@gmail.com> for inclusion in his database. > Question: Is there an official, or accepted by consensus, Sackett > Family Crest with or without Motto? I want to start the Sackett > Family Scrapbook and would like to include a pix of the Crest. As far as a crest goes, no member of the family has ever been entitled to an achievement of arms, although there are books that suggest otherwise. The publishers of these books cobble together a crest from snippets of information with the aim of selling it to family members. The Sackett ones are entirely bogus. However, they are not without interest and I will send a couple of examples to your personal email address (this list cannot take attachments). Chris Sackett Sackett webmaster

    3. Chris and others on the list, I'm glad you pointed out that there is not at "Sackett" crest or "coat of arms". From what the people in the know have said about family crests is that they are only issued to an individual not a family. So if there was a Sackett crest, it would only apply to the person who was entitled to it and not all Sackett family members. I know that I have used some crests in the past, but now I will not used them until I know who was the original owner of the crest. I hope this helps other members on the list. 3. Thank You Chris. I, as have others, wondered about all the "crests" out there. Think everyone would like to have one. There is a certain noble cachet about crests. Maybe that's why crest-makers do such a nice business! My "books" are not published books but scrapbooks that I'm trying to put together for the family, particularly the grandchildren, to learn a bit about the Ancestors, to enjoy and hopefully develop a great interest in their own legacy. If they get really interested they can go into the genealogy program. However, I get so involved with "creative" ideas that my brain burns out, I get a headache and have to stop for another cup of coffee and maybe do housework to regroup (grin). (don't know how to find and use a smiley face On my Mac.) will get Owen's Sackett line filled out and send it on. It's a short but interesting line.
