    1. [SACKETT] Welcoming new members question
    2. Hi John and Terri,To answer your question. I receive a copy of the note that Jean sends to the new member welcoming them to the association, attached to that note is the initial request to join. Sometimes the member just asks to join, other times they mention their lines or questions about their Sackett name. Since I became president, I decided to follow in Chris' footsteps and send a personal note to the list. Sometimes it generates interest and sometimes I'm sure people are quick to hit the delete key! :} If by chance someone sees a connection then they can send their own personal note to the list or to the new member. I know that I was very interested in Walter and Aleta Pogue, and their Pogue connection to the Barbees. I guess it IS all about connecting. Thanks for your question, and I hope the new members don't mind my comments. I don't see any of the connections that you comment on when you welcome them. Jenn, I took a peek at the database to see if I could find your line. There are certainly a LOT of Samuels and Sarah Sacketts!! I'll leave it up to you to figure out where you fit in. :} Anyway, welcome to the group! I hope that you find the resources available in the database and on the web site of value to you. I know that since I became more active on the committee, I've really come to appreciate the work that goes into maintaining and adding to both the database and the website, that Chris and Thurmon do!Again, welcome!Debbie BarbeeTSFA President-------------------------------The Sackett Family Association website is at http://www.sackettfamily.info/.To contact the Sackett List Admin, send a message to SACKETT-admin@rootsweb.com.See list information and search the archives at http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/surname/s/sackett.html-------------------------------To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SACKETT-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. One other note of explanation: The web site is updated once a month, so our info on new members doesn't necessarily show up right away. But Debbie's personal welcome notes usually refer to any lineage info we've received, so other members can get in touch sooner if they think they're connected to the new person.
