Hi Sackett Researchers: I've run across another problem relating to what Weygant has for a family and what I am able to find in the census data as well as internet searches. This problem concerns the family of 1776-Leonard Sackett (b. 1798) and Ruth Gildersleeve: Weygant, page 270: 1776. Leonard Sackett, 1798-1868, of Dutchess County, N. Y., son of (737) Joel and Betsey Husted Sackett, was married to Ruth Gildersleeve. Children. 4436. Eunice Sackett. 4437. J. Smith Sackett, b. in 1844. 4438. Henry Sackett. ---------------------- The only Leonard Sackett with a wife named Ruth that I am able to find in the 1850 census is: Year: 1850; State: NY; County: Dutchess; Township: Stanford Roll: M432_497 Page: 211 237/237 Sackett, Leonard B. 52 m farmer NY [W #1776] Sackett, Ruth 48 f NY Sackett, Cordeulia 20 f NY [Cornelia?] Sackett, Jane E. 16 f NY Sackett, Hiram L. 13 m NY Sackett, Emily 10 f NY This family does not have any of the children listed by Weygant on page 270. Henry SACKETT; Born: Dec 1847; Married: 7 July 1814 to Polly PULVER (dau. of William W. of Pine Plains); Died: [NOTE: This would be "a medical marvel" insofar as he was married 33 years before he was born!] 9. Joel SACKETT; Born: 29 Jun 1828; Married: Died: This listing presents a problem because the birth dates given for Smith J. Sackett (1844), Henry Sackett (1847) and Eunice Sackett (1832) indicate that at least the two boys should have been listed in Leonard's household in the 1850 census. And the 1880 census shows that the birth years for the three is close to the dates given on the "hugahusky" website above: 1880; Stanford, Dutchess, NY FHL Film 1254825 National Archives Film T9-0825 Page 354C Smith J.
