Hello Sackett Searchers; While entering information from the Federal censuses into the Sackett database I have run across a "little problem" concerning the family of 1764-Harry Sackett and Catherine Pulver. Weygant has: 1764. Harry Sackett, 1800-1874, farmer, of Hull's Mills, Dutchess County, N. Y., son of (731) Samuel W. and Anna Hammond Sackett, was married, first to Catherine Pulver, 1808-1839, and several years after her death to Mariah Pulver. They were the daughters of William W. Pulver, 1773-1861, and his wife Christean Page 269 Mullins, 1780-1826, and the granddaughter of Wandell Pulver, 1735-1826, and his wife Susanna, and the great-granddaughter of Peter Pulver, 1708-1794, and his wife Catherine, and the great-great-granddaughters of Johannis Pulver of Livingston Manor. <SNIP> Children. 4403. Jason Sackett. 4404. Edward B. Sackett. 4405. Alida Sackett. ----------- When I entered this information into the database I had shown Catherine Pulver as their mother. Census information indicates that this was an error on my part. Year: 1850; State: NY; County: Dutchess; Township: Stanford Roll: M432_497 Page: 206 147/147 Sackett, Henry 49 m farmer NY Sackett, Polly 38 f NY Sackett, William P. 17 m NY Sackett, Edwin B. 6 m NY Sackett, Catherine A. 4 f NY Sackett, Jason M. 1 m NY >From this census we have two additional children for Harry/Henry Sackett: William P. Sackett (b. c1833) which would make him a son from Henry's 1st marriage to Catherine Pulver who died in 1839. And Catherine A. Sackett (b. c 1846) with Edwin/Edward B., Alida, and Jason M. who were probably all the children of Henry by his 2nd wife, Mariah "Polly" Pulver. I do not have the census information for this family for 1860 and 1870. But the 1880 census has something interesting: 1880 census; Stanford, Dutchess, New York FHL Film 1254825 National Archives Film T9-0825 Page 371A Polly SACKETT Self F W W 70 NY Keeping House NY NY Edward B. But the household has James Sackett, son, age 11. Now I believe that at age 70 Polly would not be the mother of James. The most likely father of James would be Edward, or possibly, Jason. Perhaps the 1860 and 1870 censuses would help clear this up. Another question would be; are the SELLECK children related? Thurmon ------ Accurate information is our goal.
