I've been entering the Sackett/Carter connections from "A Genealogy of the Descendants of Thomas Carter" and have run across a Sackett that I don't have in my database and have been unable to determine who her parents might be. Does anyone on the list have any information? Or have access to census records that might help? In the Carter genealogy, page 174-175: 340. HARLEY PETERS7 CARTER (William6) b. East Bloomfield, N. Y., May 7, 1839; m. there Dec. 2, 1868, Helen Louisa Preston, b. East Bloomfield, Oct. 28, 1842, dau. of Orrin and Betsey (Cronk) Preston. Page 175 Res. East Bloomfield and Mendon, N. Y. Children, b. East Bloomfield, N. Y.: i. Elizabeth Preston,8 b. Sept. 25, 1870; m. Pittsford, N. Y., March 15, 1899, William Buholtz, b. Pittsford, March 10, 1871, d. there May 4, 1904, son of Frederick and Rekah (Sackett) Buholtz. Child: Elmer Carter, b. May 13, 1902; d. May 16, 1902. This genealogy is the only place I have found Rekah Sackett and I have been unable to find a Rebecca/Rebeka(h) that will match with her. I found her daughter-in-law Elizabeth (Carter) Buholtz listed in: Honeoye Falls Cemetery, Village of Honeoye Falls, Town of Mendon, [Monroe Co.] New York: BUHOLTZ Elizabeth Carter; 1870 - 1960 and Elizabeth's parents; CARTER Harley P.; 1839 - 1921 Helen Preston, wife of Harley P.; 1842 - 1924 And three Sacketts SACKETT Emma; 1891 - 1968 Ethel B.; 1898 - 1922 George; 1893 - 1973 [Any ideas on who these Sacketts are?] Now, according to the Carter genealogy William Buholtz was born March 10, 1871 in Pittsford, Monroe Co., NY which would seem to indicate that his parents; Frederick Buholtz and Rekah Sackett were possibly living there for the 1870 census. And they were probably still living there when William Buholtz married Elizabeth Carter in 1899. I searched for Frederick Buholtz in the 1880 census on the LDS website and had no hits. I searched for heads of household with the surname BUHOLTZ and got no hits in Monroe Co., NY. All of the individuals named William Buholtz were in other states. One search indicated that there is a Fredderick Buholtz in the 1910 census for NY. Could it be that Rekah Sackett's name was a german name that was "converted" to Sackett? Any help is welcome Thurmon
