Hello Sackett Searchers: In an effort to trace the three Sacketts found as neighbors in the 1860 Census for Roscoe, Goodhue Co., MN Louilla and I have been searching the censuses for 1870 and 1880. William was located in By 1870 the family was located back in IL. 1870 census Bushnell, McDonough, Illinois, page 386b Sackett, Wm, age 56, born NY, Carpenter , Elizabeth, age 53, born Ark , Francis A.(M), age 26, born Ills, Music Teacher , Florence, age 10, born Minnesota , Reuben H., ae 9, born Minn , Charles W., age 8, born Minn By 1880 the family was located in NE 1880; Census Place Clarksville, Merrick, Nebraska Family History Library Film 1254752 NA Film Number T9-0752 Page Number 14B William SACKETT Self M Male W 65 NY Farmer VT PA Elizabeth SACKETT Wife M Female W 61 AR Keeping House VA KY Charles SACKETT Son S Male W 17 MN Works On Farm NY AR I searched the USGenWeb site for Merrick Co., NE and found a lengthy three part article written by one of William's daughters, Mrs. Mary L. (Sackett) Barnes which gives an account of their move to NE in 1871. This is located at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nemerric/olres/Barnes/auld1.htm So, although the 1870 census indicates that they were enumerated in Bushnell, McDonough, Illinois; the account by Mrs. Barnes says that the move was made from MN to NE taking two months. There is also a link to another article by her entitled "Pioneering in Minnesota" in which she recounts their move from IL to MN in 1856. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nemerric/olres/Barnes/MNpionr.htm The grandson of Mrs. Barnes tells me that he has no information about the parents of William.
