    3. Liesa sent me copies ot the three pages of the file for Zelotus/Zelotas Sackett. And it doesn't help very much. It is primarily a document settling up his pay for his service in Company commanded by Capt. Leonard Kellogg part of the Manlius Rifle Batalion of Militia commanded by Maj. Charles Mosely. It is dated 26 Sep 1859 and states the Zelotas is 72 years old. He had a Land Warrant #16532 for 80 acres. He signed his name as ZELOTAS SACKETT It is not clear that Zelotas ever claimed his 80 acres and a search of the probate court index in Ontario Co. gives no listing for Zelotas [or Simon/Simon Z.] so I'm not sure that we will find anything concerning his estate at the time of his death. I also searched for Sarah Johnson and found no probate record for her estate. The only Sarah Johnson listed was for 1914. So, unless there was a long delay in settling things, that would not be her ... considering she was listed as age 57 in 1850. The fact that Zelotas served in the Manlius Rifle would indicate that he was in Onondaga Co., NY in 1812. We know that 634-Joseph was in Onondaga Co. for the 1810 census with two sons age 16-25. That his son, Joseph, jr. married Phylinda Cleveland there in 1814 and then all three of them [Joseph, Joseph, jr., and Zelotas] appear in the 1820 census for Ontario Co., NY. The census data with the military file of Zelotas give a strong indication that Zelotas was a son of 634-Joseph. And the 1820 - 1840 censuses give an indication that Orlen/Orlin/Orland could be the son of Zelotas. 1820 the household of Zelotas has: 1 M under 10 = ? 1 M 26-45 = Zelotas (b. abt 1788) 1 F26-45 = Sabrina (b. 1795) 1830 the household of Zelotas has: 1 m under 5 1 M 5-10 = ?Orlin (b. 1824) 1 M 10-15 = ? (b. 1815-1820) 1 M 20-30 [this appears to be an error should be age 40-50] Zelotas 1 F 20-30 1 F 30-40 = Sabrina (b. 1795) 1 F50-60 1840 the household of Zelotas has: 1 M 10-15 = ? 1 M 15-20 = ?Orlen (b. 1824) 1 M 20-30 = ? (b. 1810-1820) according to the 1830 census; b. 1815-1820 1 M 50-60 = Zelotas (b. abt 1788) 1 F 1-10 1 F 10-15 1 F 40-50 = Sabrina (b. 1795) By 1850 Orlen/Orlin is married to Lucinda Johnson and near by, Zelotas is living in the household of Sarah Johnson who is the widow of Daniel Johnson who d. 1841. She is possibly [probably] the mother of Lucinda Johnson. Now, to get off onto another tangent ... I've seen queries posted on GenForum concerning another orphan Sackett, viz., Nathaniel B. Sackett. As is the case with many of the Sacketts who come from NY it has been said that he descended from the family who founded Sackets Harbor in NY but this is very doubtful. Nathaniel B. first appears in the 1850 census: State: WI; County: Dodge; Township: Chester Roll: M432_996 Page: 38 538/559 Sackett, Nathaniel B. 33 m farmer NY [Sackett], Agnes 31 f SCOT Sackett, Henry 7 m NY Sackett, Cyrus 11/12 NY In the 1860 Census; STATE: Wisconsin COUNTY: Fond du Lac DIVISION: Town of Alto REEL NO: M653-1407 PAGE NO: 70 REFERENCE: Enumerated on 23 June, 1860 by A.C. This Nathaniel B. Sackett COULD be the male under 10 yrs in 1820, age 10-15 in 1830; age 20-30 in 1840. If this male is Nathaniel B. Sackett, he would have been married soon after the 1840 census and according to the 1850 WI census moved to Wisconsin after Cyrus was born in 1849 in NY, 11 months before the census. It is said that Nathaniel B.'s name was Nathaniel Baldwin Sackett. It is interesting to note that 155-Hannah Sackett and her husband, Maj. Isaac Baldwin Jr. died in Pompey, Onondaga Co., NY. So then, IF Nathaniel B.'s middle name was Baldwin he could have been named after Maj. Isaac Baldwin, jr. not becasue they were closely related, but because of the primonance of Maj. Baldwin. It is also interesting to note that Nathaniel B. Sackett and Orlin Sackett both were in Olmsted Co., MN in the 1880 Census. 3. Thurmon I am not sure if you are aware of the following but I meant to mention it before. While I was in NY I found out that every township has a town historian (by law). The town historian has more information on different individuals who lived in the area. I did not know where to look of Zelotus/Zelotas but this is the link to the Wayne Co list of historians http://www.waynecountyny.org/resources/local_historians.asp I am sure there is one for each county. We found a lot of good stuff on some our ancestors while we were running around, but others there was nothing on. Liesa ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thurmon E. LAMBERT GDau F S W 17 WI ----------- NY ENG Winnie LAMBERT GDau F S W 7 MN ----------- ENG NY Now, if one goes back through the census data for the household of Zelotas and Sabrina Sackett ...
