Sue, I believe we will need to ask Mary Lou where this information came from. As far I can ascertain, Weygant and hence Thurmon King has nothing for #4257. The URL you sent me worked great. It's from the Archives of letters for this list. The URL you sent is a link to a message Mary Lou sent to this mailing list in November of 2002. Mary Lou must have found your SACKETT's in Michigan and was hopeing to link up with them. Maybe she'll explain to us how Milford got to be Milton...? Nancy, Just looking at where I got the Milton Sackett instead of Milford Sackett. It was something that Mary Lou forwarded to me. I hope I get this correct: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/SACKETT/2002-11/1036209931 Subject: Oramel Almeron Sackett, # 3. iv. Milton Sackett, b.Abt 1855, Michigan (should read Milford Sackett) Also # 4. Children of John Sackett and Marie Manor......it lists Suzanne Sackett as deceased, when in fact she is still alive. She is married to Robert Jackman. She has helped me a lot with questions about the family. Also, my husband said he would participate in the DNA group study. Sue Sackett
As most of the list knows, I have been trying to research all of the Michigan Sackett's for a long time. When looking through Lenawee Co., MI info at the Museum in Adrian, I found pages from the family Bible of Oramel Sackett and his first wife Cornelia Willey. I have this information posted at the Lenawee Co. website: http://dianesgenealogy.com/lenaweemi/biblesackett.html Between census records, death records, etc., I have found 3 different name combinations for Milford F. Sackett, son of Oramel and his second wife, Susan Betts. Fortunately we found Sue and her husband to set us straight on his name. In my earlier post on this site, I had Suzanne Sackett as "d. after 1984" because I knew she was alive that year. Was happy to find out she is alive and well now! Hadn't meant to imply that she wasn't! Milford had a son named Milton. I think that is why I must have made that earlier mistake. Anyway, I think this line is getting straightened out. The link to a picture of Oramel A. Sackett (Milford's father) is at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sackettheadstones/index_a-z/sackett_n-r.htm#O Hope this helps. Mary Lou
