Thurmon, I have spent quite a bit of time on the Internet trying to trace the parentage and correct spelling of Richard Sackett, Jr's wife. Not too much luck so far. In the baptismal records of the Dutch Reformed Church, Kingston, N.Y., which is in Ulster County, there is the following records (and spelled like the names are in the records): Child: Ritsert Sekket Baptismal date: 5 May 1734 Parents: Jan Sekket; Elisabeth Masten Sponsors: Ritsert Sekket; David De Duyster; Mary Brodeth; Elisabeth Van Vlied Denomination: Reformed Dutch Child: Ezechiel Sekket Baptismal date: 19 June 1737 Parents: Jan Sekket; Elisabeth Masten Sponsors: Aard Masten, Jr.; Ezechiel Masten; Elisabeth Masten Denomination: Reformed Dutch Child: Elisabeth Sekket Baptismal date: 26 May 1739 Parents: Ritsert Sekket; Maria Breedeth Sponsors: Jan Sekket; Elisabeth Masten Source: Poughkeepsie Reformed Church (Baptisms), Dutchess County Number one and two would be sons of John Sackett and Elisabeth Masten. Weygant has #717 Richard born in June 1751 but does not have a date for #715 Ezekiel. The latter, I believe, would be #712 Elisabeth, a daughter of Richard Sackett, Jr. Weygant has her born 14 Oct.1751. The original credit for the find on these three belongs to Terry Flynn, a McKay and Sackett researcher. I found these entries on a site that had the records of New York baptisms, also. Notice the name Mary Brodeth and Maria Breedeth. Since Richard is in both entries, I believe this is his wife. I have seen it as Bredeth, too. In going over the Kingston baptismal records, I saw several similar names. The old Dutch records spelled names in several different ways, and it is difficult to decipher which is the true name. But, I found some of the same people using the following spellings: Bradet, Bradhet, Breder, Breeder and Brodhead. So, my gut feeling, if you will pardon the expression, is that her maiden name was really Brodhead. That family, from what I found, is supposed to have come from England very early to America. The only problem is, I can't connect Mary or Maria to any of the families so far. A Richard Brodhead and wife, Wyntje Pawling, had a daughter, Mary, born in 1719 (too old for Richard); Charles Brodhead and wife, Maria Ten Broeck, had a daughter, Mary, born ca 1699. But according to some websites, the first Mary married a Robert McGinnis, and the second married Johannes De Witt in 1724. I'm still trying to see if there were other Brodhead's that the Mary we are looking for would fit into. Just thought I would let you know what I have found (or not found) so far. Blanche McKay
