Karen: The information I have seen for Nathaniel B. Sackett of Olmsted Co., MN is proving to be "interesting" to say the least. And his ancestry is proving to be a thorny question. All of his descendants I have contacted [including Gary] have said that his father was named Nathaniel Baldwin Sackett. But I have been unable to find a Nathaniel or Nathan Sackett in the Federal census from 1800-1850 that is even close to matching the alledged Nathaniel Baldwin Sackett, father of Nathaniel B. Sackett found in the 1850 census for Dodge Co., WI and in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses. The information you received from Gary Taylor is the first time I had seen the claim that the father was born in England. This claim is complicated by the 1880 census where Nathaniel's father is said to have been born in MA rather than England: 1880 census; Pleasant Grove, Olmsted, Minnesota Family History Library Film 1254628 NA Film Number T9-0628 Page Number 352B N.B. Sackett but I have seen no source material to support the connection. I hope that as we continue to search for information on this line we will find something that will show what is correct.
