Blanche, Many thanks for posting the New Milford VRs from the Barbour Collection (your message 24 Nov - yes, I'm miles behind with my emails!). Margery Sackett & Mary Sackett marriages Could you please confirm that the marriages of Margery Sackett = David Green and Mary Sackett = Israel Canfield were actually in New Milford and that the data came from the Barbour Collection. I wasn't quite sure of this from the context of your message. From their marriage dates, 1759 and 1758, it is clear that these two daughters of 267 Richard Sackett must have been born in Dover, Dutchess County, before the family moved to New Milford in 1746. I take your point about Richard being a rather old father - about 50 when the twins Elisabeth and Catherine were born - but he would have been in his late thirties at the births of Margery and Mary, which seems reasonable. There looks to be a gap in the births between Margery and Mary born in Dover and the rest of his children born in New Milford. This makes me wonder whether Richard could have been married twice, the first wife dying in Dover before he removed to New Milford. Just a thought! Rebecka Sackett marriage The marriage you found in the Barbour Collection for Rebecka Sackett = Salmon CARRINGTON, 6 Nov 1771, is, as you suggest, that of 627 Rebecca who Weygant records as marrying M S CLARENTON. This marriage also appears in the Westfield, MA, VRs (researched by Ted Mudge), ref. B13, 6 Nov 1771, Rebecca Sacket & Salmon CLORVENTON. I had assumed from that record that the marriage took place in Westfield. Does the record you found make it clear whether the marriage took place in Westfield or in New Milford? Best regards, Chris
