In attempting to clean up my Inbox a bit this morning, I ran across where I had discovered the following in a RootsWeb PML Search. I post it now in case it might help some one at some time. Note the date I sent it to myself to forward to the list later... I'm a bit behind! LOL! Classification: Military Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SRB.2ACE/7924 Message Board Post: The following is a repost of information already posted directly to NYCHAUTA-L@rootsweb.com. I recently obtained a 1998 reprint of a 1901 history of the Ninth New York Volunteer Cavalry Regiment which was enlisted primarily from Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Wyoming counties of New York and Warren County, PA. It was written by an officer from the Regiment named Newel Cheney. While there is a lot of information in the book it is not indexed making it difficult for me to do look-ups. So, I have decided to try something different. I will type in a name list from the muster rolls in the back of the book. I will include Name, age and enlistment location. If anyone sees an individual they would like more information about they can request it from me at tet3@pacbell.net. At a minimum there is basic enlistment and mustering out information about each name. If they were killed or wounded in action or captured there is likely even more information. Also given are dates of promotion and re-enlistment as well as any special classification such as bugler, blacksmith, farrier and etc. The muster list is somewhat alphabetical but broken down by Companies. I will try to type in about half a company every day or so. There are thirteen companies, A through M. It may take longer if I get a lot of requests for more information. Tim Tryon San Luis Obispo, CA I haven't had any luck formatting columns for submitting to the board, so, the format will be NAME; AGE; LOCATION OF ENLISTMENT REGIMENTAL STAFF . Sackett, William; ; Albany .
