She was b. 10 Jan., 1804, in Brandon, Rutland Co., Vt., and d. 18 Feb., 1875, in Easton, Mich. He lived in Nelson until 1853. In October of that year he removed with his family to Saranac, Ionia Co., Mich., and in the following spring to Easton in the same county, where he d. 8 Jan., 1873. A skillful and ingenious mechanic in the working Page 328 THE COLTON FAMILY both of wood and metal, the products of his shop included various articles of household use, which found ready sale among his neighbors. While jovial and fond of the pleasures of social life, he was deeply religious in his thought, and inclined to serious and practical studies. He was especially interested in the care of the sick, and in the study of medicine, and his knowledge and perceptions were frequently called into exercise for the alleviation of the ills of his neighbors and relatives.
