    1. [SACKETT] Message from the President
    2. Dear Sackett Family Association Members, As election time nears and my time of serving as your president comes to a close, I would like to leave you with a couple of thoughts. First, I would like to thank the members for their support during my tenure. I have really enjoyed serving as your president. It was made VERY easy because of the support of others on the committee. Chris and Jean have been so lovely to work with and have given me great guidance. Thank you both, very much!! My second thought turns to the elections. Being a part of the committee has been a great experience for me. I still have one year left to serve on my term on the committee and I look forward to it. The amount of time that is spent is negligible, unless you happen to be the webmaster, historian or registrar! I hope we have those positions covered for a LONG time!!! Jean has made it especially easy for me to send out the welcome messages to the new members. It really made me feel good when a dialog started from one of my welcome messages! I met many new people at the reunion in September, I really hope some of you will think about submitting your name as a candidate for the committee. We always welcome new people, thoughts and ideas! Please, even if you are brand new to the Association, think about the committee, it is a commitment that you won't be sorry about. My last concern is for the next reunion. I believe I saw a note to the list just this week asking when and where. That's the big question, isn't it. At the reunion we had many thoughts. It has been our intention to rotate the locations of the reunions - EAST - WEST - CENTRAL -???? We did have some interest in holding a reunion at Sackett's Harbor, but that would be another reunion in the east. It was left at the 2012 reunion that if no one stepped up, the reunion would be by default held in Salt Lake City. I would like to hear from the membership, thoughts on this next reunion. Where would YOU be likely to attend a reunion? Let's keep our Association vibrant and fresh! Here's to another successful year!! Debbie Barbee TSFA President

    3. In addition to what Debbie said I would encourage anyone interested to ask what any of the committee positions include. In all of my years on the committee my time involvement has been minimal. New voices are always helpful to keep us moving forward! 3. My great thanks to you, Debbie for being such a welcoming President. You made it easy to feel a meaningful part of this special organization. re: next reunion. During our discussion in Westfield there was strong interest in pursuing a reunion in Ohio. So many Sacketts migrated there when the Western Reserve was opened. However, we would need Ohio members to take up the gauntlet. Any takers? Huge thanks to Debbie and Sharon Powalka for a great reunion last fall. 3. Debbie, I'm afraid I'm not an, "active" member but do enjoy the correspondences and hope to get back on track with my own research soon. I'm in the midst of relocating from South Carolina to St. Louis where I lived for 20 years, and where my children and grandchild are. When the dust settles, it will be fun to find out more about my family. Thanks so very much for your willingness to serve as president. All groups need that special someone willing to step up to take the lead, and from what I've seen, you've done a wonderful job... thanks to all who contribute to make the association great!
