We received the results of the DNA test for our son, David Sackett, Kit 148781, password N6551. It showed 27 matches for 12 markers exact match. The kit was not the lowest priced one, but the one just above it. I do not know how to interpret this in relation to whether David's ancestor was Simon or John of New Haven. According to Weygant, it was John. ??? Help! I was also interested to see that closest ancestors were in Germany, as well as United Kingdom and USA. David's maternal great-great grandparents came from Germany.
Tom Smith is our DNA project coordinator and he will be able to give you a lot more detail than I can, however I thought I'd give my two cents because my father Arnold Sackett is one of the 27 matches. The maternal line, I believe will have nothing to do with the results of this test as the mtDNA test is a different one all together and is the test that would show you information about your sons maternal (or your dna profile as his mother) line. We had my father take the DNA test because we are from the "orphan" line of Orlin Sackett. Based on the results being an exact match with one of Tom Smith's Sackett cousins this showed that we in fact descend from Simon's line. This leads me to believe that your son does as well. As I said, Tom knows much more on the subject than I do, but I was in the same place you are a few years ago when our results came in. It's so exciting, isn't it?
