    1. Re: [SACKETT] Lucian A. Sackett/Lucinda Williams connection
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Thurmon_King Surnames: SACKETT; WILLIAMS Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.sackett/293.2.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There seems to be a misunderstanding concerning Arabella. Arabella lives in England and is married to a Sackett. They have a copy of a letter written in 1957 by a Samuel Jefferson Sackett of Chicago, IL which tells of of a fund drive in America to help restore St. Mary's Church in Sandwich. The letter states: "Specifically, a Sackett daughter, Lucinda Sackett Williams of East St. Louis, Illinois, some years ago established contact with some of the English Sacketts. The interest aroused thereby led her, with her husband, to take a trip to the ancient stronghold of the Sackett family in England, as a result to which she became imbued with the idea that we in this country, could render some assistance in the project described in the accompanying article, which was prepared by her. It has to do with the preservation of St. Mary's Church in Sandwich." >From this it would appear that Lucinda Sackett Williams was living in the mid-1900s which would exclude her from being the same as Lucinda Williams (b. c.1816), grandmother of Lucian A. Sackett. I, like you, am puzzled as to why Lucian (b. 1866) does not show up in the 1870 census. From the 1870 census, it appears that Lucinda Williams was a widow and her daughter Almeda/Ameda was still single and Lucian was not in her household at that time. The only other daughter that we have from the 1850 census is Caroline Williams, age 2. I don't have access to the 1860 census and, therefore, don't know if there were other daughters in the Williams household at that time. If there was not another daughter it would appear that; for Lucian to be a grandson of Lucinda, Caroline would likely to have been his mother.
