There is other data suggesting his name was Niram. On the handwriting, the "H" of "Hiram" does not look like the writer's other letter Hs (see "Hattie" and "Here" near top of page, and "Keeping House" several times). "Cathrine" should be "Catherine". Her age, 18, is more likely "10". It's most unlikely she would have been at school at age 18. If Weygant has the right date of birth, 7 Aug 1867, she would actually have been 12. "Bushe" is, I think, actually "Burtie". His full name was Niram Burt, and it would make sense for him to have been nicknamed something other than Niram if his father's name was also Niram. Arvile's age also looks more like 38 than 33, although it looks as though someone has written "33" faintly alongside the original writing of the age. If her age, 21, at marriage in Sep 1865 was right, she would have been 35 at the census date. I'd be glad of another opinion on this record if someone has access to Ancestry. 3. In the 1850 census his name is Niram. In the 1860 Census his name is clearly Niram. The 1870 Census clearly has his name as Niram but the census taker put his wife's name as Alice with daughter Catherine A. age 3. The 1800 Census proves to be a guessing game.but the other censuses and other sources show that his name was Hiram. Concerning his son, Buske, I believe it is Burtie. The enumeratior, Lucius Christy, wasn't consistant in dotting his "i"s and crossing his "t"s. For the "t" in Catherine; he didn't cross the "t"; unless the mark is almost blended into the line above the name. Concerning the "i"s; he didn't do the "i" in Niram, Arvile, or Hattie Burkman in the 2nd household from the top of the page. The transcription of Niram's marriage record has his name as Hiram: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mistcla2/m_records2.htm St. Clair County, Michigan Marriages: 1857-1866; Book 2 28 Sept 1865, Marine City Hiram Sackett, 30, Irving, New York Arvilla L.
