The one married to Della was Guy Wesley Sackett-residing in Anderson, Madison, Indiana, born August 31, 1887 in McLean Illinois. Per the WW II Draft Registration card in 1942. It is showing that Della was still his wife in 1942. I think we should start over..... What exactly were you trying to find out? Kari
My original quest began when Alvin Oglesby sent me the URL for the Hess Cemetery listing for Guy W. Sackett and Della Mae Hendricks Sackett. The quest took a turn down a dirt road when I found the Guy W. Sackett in Florida. When I did a search for Della Mae Hendricks; 1880 Census; Sugar Creek, Parke, Indiana Family History Library Film: 1254303 NA Film Number: T9-0303 Page Number: 409C Roderic HENDRICKS, Self, M, Male, W, 44, IN, Carpenter, IN, IN Mary HENDRICKS, Wife, M, Female, W, 47, NC, , NC, NC Milton F. HENDRICKS, Son, S, Male, W, 12, IN, Farm Laborer, IN, NC Laura F. HENDRICKS, Dau, S, Female, W, 9, IN, , IN, NC Charles M. HENDRICKS, Son, S, Male, W, 8, IN, , IN, NC Ida A. HENDRICKS, Dau, S, Female, W, 6, IN, , IN, NC Della M. HENDRICKS, Dau, S, Female, W, 4, IN, , IN, NC I also got a hit at: http://www.conovergenealogy.com/conover-p/p1056.htm#i306668 The information for Della Mae Hendircks on this page is confusing to say the least: Della Mae Hendricks married Mayo Strum. Della Mae Hendricks married Guy Sackett. Della Mae Hendricks was born on 31. Jan. 1878 at Middletown, Henry County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Roderick L. Hendricks (c 1832 - 1. Oct. 1896) [Born in Indiana] and Mary E. Pate (14. Jun. 1832 - 10. Jul. 1905). [Born in Virginia.] Della Mae Hendricks married (Unknown) (Unknown). Della Mae Hendricks married John Rivers on 26. Oct. 1897 at Madison County, Indiana. Della Mae Hendricks married Frank Wilson on 9. Dec. 1903 at Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana. Della Mae Hendricks died on 28. Jul. 1942 at age 64. She was buried at Hess Cemetery, Henry County, Indiana. Child of Della Mae Hendricks and (Unknown) (Unknown) Johnnie Hendricks+ (14. Oct. 1896 - 16. Oct. 1986) I was unable to find a positive listing for Della Mae in the 1900 census although I did find a 1900 census listing for a Johnie Rivers: 1900 Census; Mt. Pleashant Township, Delaware County, Indiana SD No. 8; ED No. 49; Sheet No. 3A; 6 June, 1900 46/46 Bennett, Lewis, Head, W, M, Sept. 1878, 21, M, 0, Ohio, Ohio, Ohio, Farm Laborer Bennett, Della M. Wife, W, F, Aug. 1879, 21, M, 0, 1-1, Indiana, Indiana, Virginia, --- Rivers, Johnie, Son, W, M, Aug. 1896, 3, S, Indiana, Indiana, Illinois, --- Hendricks, Mary E., M in Law, W, F, Aug 1846, Wd, 1-1, Indiana, Indiana, Indiana, --- In this listing the birth place of Della's mother is given as Virginai while the mother in law Mary E Hendricks, who would be presumed to be the mother of Della M. is said to have been born in Indiana. And her birthdate and birthplace is different from what is indicated in the 1880 census and both are different from the webpage. The marriage record [posted by Alvin] for Johnnie Hendricks gives his birth as 14 Oct 1896. This is the same year but different month from the Johnie Rivers in the 1900 Census When I found the 1920 Census listing for Guy Sackett (age 33) as an inmate in Putnamville, IN and listed as divorced; I wanted to learn whether Della M. Hendiricks and Guy were married before 1920, or after 1920. >From all the information coming in from my query, it appears that before the 1910 census Guy had a "run in with the law" in Clark Co., IN and was an inmate Jeffersonville, IN. He was released and was married to Lillie Pfisterer: Indiana Marriage Collection, 1800-1941 about Guy W Sackett Name: Guy W Sackett Spouse Name: Lillie Pfisterer Marriage Date: 3 May 1913 Marriage County: Marion Birth Date: 31 Aug Age: 31 Source Title 1: Marion County, Indiana Source Title 2: Index to Marriage Record 1911 - 1915 Inclusive Vol Source Title 3: Original Record Located: County Clerk's Office Ind Book: 70 World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 about Guy W Sackett Name: Guy W Sackett City: Indianapolis County: Marion State: Indiana Birth Date: 31 Aug 1885 Race: White Roll: 1613148 The image is partially garbled, but there appears to be a Lilly This is where it really got confusing. The 1900 census gave his birthdate as Aug. 1887 and his headstone in Hess Cemetery has his birth year as 1887. The 1910 census gave his age as 28 which would indicate a birth year of 1882. His marriage record in 1913 has his age as 31 which indicates his birth year was 1882. His Draft Registration gives his birth as 31 Aug 1885 and the 1920 census gives his age as 33 which indicates 1887 as his birth year. Then the 1930 census gives his age as 45 which indicates 1885 as his birth year. The 1920 census shows that Guy and Lillie were divorced before 1920 and the 1930 census shows that Guy married Della between 1920 and 1930. Can you just imagine trying to straighten all this out while corresponding by snail mail? Thurmon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kari J. Thurmon, My husband's great grandfather, Duncan Keir who married Lydia Sacket, had at least 4 birth years when I started doing research on him. It appeared that he lied about his age on his marriage license to appear younger than he really was. Anyway, I finally got the birth record from Canada and it verified one of the years. You do have Lydia Sacket information that I send you a number of years ago. Thanks for all you do for the Sacket list. I also enjoy the research part or "thrill of the hunt" as some might say about it. Grace Keir in MN
