    3. Hello Thurmon, Yes, I do have more information on Henry M. Kinne And Sarah Sackett and their children. It has been a personal goal of mine to try to bring their history to life and to identify their decendents. It's a work in progress of course but I do have more info. Please let me know how to share the information with you. I use Ancestry to store my information. Thanks, Jenn On Oct 7, 2012, at 5:08 PM, Thurmon <thurmon.king@gmail.com> wrote: Jenn, Henry M. 3. Alright, I checked the Chester, Mass. vital records which showed no birth record for any Horace Sacket(t), in spite of what the article said. However, I did find a Horace David Sackett listed in the Families of Blandford, Mass. This Horace was the son of Leverett Sackett & Mary (Culver) Sackett, who were married in Chester, Mass. in 1833. This Horace was born in 1843 according to a source called the "William Culver Bible" -- too late to be the Civil War soldier we seek. If that wasn't enough to disprove this Horace, further investigation shows that he is listed in the MA state census of 1865 (ie. he survived the war) and later he married and moved to California and had children out there. Definitely not our guy. So, not sure where that leaves us. Back to the drawing board, I guess. 3. Kair, For the best info (been awhile since I did it and I went there and copied them myself) go to http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/pre-ww-1-records.html if the link doesn't work www.archives.gov is the root. I know they used to have a flat rate but if they still do it has gone up as with most things to cover costs, if anyone lives in DC or goes there that is cheapest way to do it. Before you head over though double check I didn't do it already. I had a lofty goal once of getting them all, maybe this winter I will get the ones I don't think I ever got on line but for now you can check what I do have rootsweb http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~sackettmckayhistory/LiesasLineage/MilitaryRecords.htm if this link doesn't work search Liesa's Lineage on google and it comes right up. Chris, I checked my database and I believe I have a son of Horace and Elvira, William Spencer Sackett: http://sackettfamily.info/tekdatabase/g28/p28450.htm There is also a WorldConnect database that has more of the descendants of William Spencer SAckett: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=REG&db=chan83&id=I041343 This database has his parents as SACKETT and ___. Evidently, based upon the 1880 census, they have Spencer's father as born in Ohio. It will be interesting to see what Cliff may find in the Massachusetts records. 3. Just for those who might care Civil War records are pretty much available to anyone from the National Archives who wants them - I copied a lot of them over the years - sicne thy are over 145 years old they don't have any restrictions. Now if you are going for newer ones like WW1 & WW2 that is different. Interesting that Ancestry didn't list it though usually they show the spouces, or I should say the person that puts in for the pension since it can be parents or children. 3. Chris, I found his VA burial card and it shows him as being born July 1820 he died in the civil war on Apr 25, 1864. The only Horace I show being born in 1819 in Acnestry is a Horace W. Sackettm arried to Henriett. Sorry don't have more time too look now b ut will see if I see anything else on either one later. Diane, The data I used to compile your and Steve's member pages came from Thurmon King's database, so most of the research is his. There are links in Notes & Citations in my database on some of your ancestors' pages to the relevant pages in Thurmon's database where he has much more information. Regards, Chris

I hope that you can figure out where that Sackett middle name comes in on your family search. Today's update to the Association website includes details of Helen's ancestry. Having been unsure that her great-grandfather Donald Alfred Sackett Marsh was actually a Sackett descendant, research reveals that he was the great-grandson of both Henry Sackett (1774-1862) and Elizabeth Sackett (1778-1861). Henry and Elizabeth were first cousins, so Helen is a Sackett descendant twice over! Chris
