I had a great aunt, Dora Sackett, who married a Patton. They resided in Brooklyn, Iowa and she was a sister to my Grandfather, Kirk Sackett. They and their parents, my Great Grandparents, and other siblings are buried in the cemetery in Brooklyn, IA. Hello Debbie: It is a pleasure to be a part of such an illustrious group of early American descendants. You are correct, my ancestors are John Sackett/Abigail Hannum. The Tour is awesome, Chris. I have already recommended that my genealogical society add something similar to its web site. I also want to compliment you on the October 18th release. I especially love that you added the Change Log. The index makes lookups so much easier. New member 393 Paul Foster . Added Bible of George Washington Brelsford . Added Website tour . Added Transactions of the Sackett Family Association . Added Minutes of the Association meeting held in Westfield, 22 September 2012 . Added Report of the 2012 reunion convenors . Updated Thurmon King's database The addition of a Website tour is in response to a request at the reunion from Anne Murray for a talk on the website. Time did not allow this, but it is hoped that the addition of the new feature will be helpful in explaining the website's scope. The Transactions page is introduced to provide a chronological listing of the activities of the Association, including records of Committee and Association meetings, reports of reunions, and an archive of the newsletters which were published each quarter from 2003 to 2009. After the newsletter ceased publication and was no longer a current activity, the files were archived in the Members' Only area of the website. Thurmon, I will try to rectify that but won't be able to get to it until school is on break. David Sackett was the brother of my husbands gggrandfather, Alzerah Sackett so I have plenty of info on him and his family, just not all entered. You know how it is. Just point them in my direction and I will do what I can to help. Kari On Oct 30, 2012, at 6:10 PM, Thurmon wrote: > Kari, > > I don't know why I didn't have the information. Kari, I don't know why I didn't have the information. I am now wondering where I got the marriage date I have for Eldred and Anna. No wonder I was confused !! I was contacted by a Don Dyer whose granddaughter is engaged to a descendant of Lisa Delores Sackett (dau. of Edward Edison Sackett). Lisa Delores is said to have married a man with the surname Tubbs. Don was looking for the name of the wife of Edison Edward Sackett. I found her name, Carol Thomas, in the 1930 census. The last census I found for Edward and his wife was the 1940 census and they had 5 children, but none of them were named Lisa Delores. I am waiting for a response from Don with the birthdate for Lisa Delores. I am looking for information related to David Frederick Sackett b. Nov., 1882, in Wisconsin [per 1900 census]. 1900 Census; Bloomer, Chippewa County, Wisconsin Series: T623 Roll: 1780; Sheet No. 7B; 15 June, 1900 147/147 Raven, John V., Head, W, M, Oct 1848, 57[sic], M, 15, New York, New York, New York, Farmer Raven, Eda B. Wisconsin, New York, New York, Farm Laborer It appears that the information I have for him is incorrect. I have his parents as Eldred E. Sackett and Anna Montgomery. However, Eldred did not marry Anna Montgomery until 18 July 1896. I have the record of Eldred E. Sackett's marriage to Mary Jane O'Brien on 18 July 1902. In the 1910 census Eldred's wife Mary Jane (age 56) reports that she had given birth to 13 children with 6 living. The census image I have isn't very clear so it is hard to tell whether Eldred reported 2 or 3 marriages while Mary Jane reported 2 marriages. Back to David Frederick Sackett On 28 Jan 1902, David F. married Ellen M. Smith, (aka) Maude Ellen. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XRPC-6M5 Wisconsin, Marriages, 1836-1930 Groom's Name: David F. Sackett Groom's Birth Date: Groom's Birthplace: Wisconsin Groom's Age: Bride's Name: Ellen M. However, she would probably have been his step-mother. I haven't found David F. and Ellen in the 1910 census. However, it appears that David died, or deserted his wife, before 1920 when, in the Willis H. T. Turney household, his wife is Maude E., b. Abt 1888 in Iowa. Two children are listed; Eddie W?. Sackett, Step-son, age 12, born Wisconsin, Father; Wisconsin, Mother; Iowa Gladys L. Sackett, Step-daughter, age 11, born Wisconsin, Father; Wisconsin, Mother; Iowa Eddie Sackett appears to be Edison Edward (aka) Edward Edison Sackett that I have listed as a son of David Frederick Sackett. Is there a record of David Frederick Sackett's death? Did he possibly die in WWI? Any help will be appreciated. Thurmon
Sorry everyone. I know that the list can't take attachments. Don't know what I was thinking. Had to take my husband back to the hospital today. At least I can blame it on lack of sleep. If anyone wants the photo emailed individually, let me know. Otherwise, I have sent it to Thurmon who posted it on findagrave and I have posted it on my ancestry.com file. Kari, I went ahead and had this message sent to the list, but Rootsweb doesn't accept attachments. So you may receive some puzzled emails from folks wanting to see the photo. I think you would have to attach it to individual emails.
