My great-grandfather Ernest Edmund Sackett was born in Islington London about 1885. His parents (that i have not identified) died of TB and he and his brothers George and John were put into the  St pancras workhouse in leavesden. Could they be related to your family? Dennis, I would love to more information about Rushville. My father Ramon Sackett was born there and this is where his maternal side of his family was, family name on that side is Tallon. Is that a common name from that area? Would love to know more. Thurmon King, born in Love County, Oklahoma. My parents moved from Oklahoma to Yuma, Arizona, arriving there on Christmas Eve, 1941. Liesa and Others..... I am a fairly new member and enjoying all this discussion and dialogue! In reference to knowing where other Sacketts live, this would have been valuable to us last December. My husband has retired so we decided to cruise down to Key West, FL from La. in our ' 55 Chevy. We could have said "hi" to you, Liesa, along the way! (Smile) We always thought we had such a small family and the Sackett name was rare. As we are making plans for our 1st family reunion ever, near New Orleans, we're seeing that it is growing, with possibly 50 people in attendance. ( I will encourage all, to join the association.) My brother, Steve Sackett lives there. Last year, he had made reservations to attend that reunion in Westfield. Some of y'all will remember that Hurricane Isaac hit and he had to cancel plans. I discovered the Sackett site by accident but am so thankful that I did. It is a site unmatched by others with interested, skilled people and awesome information.! Naturally, Ohio or Indiana would be a good choice for us, but we are flexible. I could also look at how long it would take to travel to several cities in the area if people brought up specific cities like Canton, OH.I know when we went to SLC several people added extra days and since many airlines have as cheap one tickets as round trips these days people could even plan to leave from the other locations if they wanted. Jean, I also have no idea why some people frowned on us asking for some that information. I am sure if most of us any desire to do it we could look most of us up on Google and get an exact location with a bunch of phone numbers too. its not like it would have to be a required piece of information. My home town is Fort Wayne. I live on the west coast now but returned regularly until my mother died 3 years ago. I¹m sure I could garner information about accommodations there. The Genealogical Center is familiar with hosting groups from all over the country and, therefore, provides that information as well. The siblings of my Sackett ancestors migrated from Warren, Connecticut to Tallmadge, Ohio. Tallmadge is about 27 miles from Canton and 40 miles from Cleveland and was part of the Connecticut Western Reserve. Tallmadge is listed as being 3 1/2 hours from Fort Wayne. If we can find an Ohio member to follow through on reunion activities, I would advocate for a reunion in Ohio followed by a trip to Fort Wayne for those interested. I would be willing to work on the Fort Wayne portion. Kari, I admit I love the idea of the traveling reunion, but also know there is no way I could do it in the next couple of years. It would take several people to each pick a location and host a couple days to pull it off, and i am not sure as much fun as it sounds if would be feasible.
