Hello Sackett Searchers, I have an unconnected Sackett and some of her descendants. I have dug out quite a bit using FamilySearch and Heritage Quest. I am hoping that someone with access to other online sources can add to what I have found. I don't remember, for sure, how I got started on this family. However, it was through Minnie M Vineyard who married Willis Leonard Barringer. Minnie's parents were Miller M./William M./William Vineyard and Elizabeth Sackett who were married: Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, 1763-1900 Groom/ Bride Date Vol./Page License No. County VINEYARD, WILLIAM M/ SACKETT, ELIZABETH 05/08/1849 OMR/0016 00000244 CARROLL The research of the descendants of Willis L. Barringer and Minnie M. Vineyard went quite smoothly. However, when it came to the family of Minnie's brother William Vineyard, the information became rather confusing. On August 16, 1850 he is listed as age 6 mo. In the 1860 censuses on 11 June, he is listed as age 10. He has not been found in the 1870 census. For William's future wife; In the 1860 census on June 11, Rachel D. Dillard is listed as age 5 and in the 1870 census on June 20, her age is 16. On Nov. 4, 1875 James W. Vineyard married Rachel D. Dillard. In the 1880 census, J. W. and R. D. Vineyar are both listed as age 23, which indicates a birth year about 1857. By 1900, they are both listed as age 48, born in March, 1851 and had been married for 30 years (m. 1870). Rachel is said to have given birth to 7 children and only 5 were still living. All five of the living children are listed in the 1900 census By 1910 William and Rachel had aged only 2 years, both listed as age 50 and having been married 1 time and married for 26 years (m. 1882). If you have been thinking of becoming more involved in the Association, do please put your name forward. We are looking for up to six new Committee members: four to serve for three years as the Class of 2016, and two to fill vacancies in the Classes of 2014 and 2015. The Class of 2013 stands down at this election. Its members are Glenna Hertzler, Liesa Robarge, Darlene Sackett, and Michael Trickey. Under the Association's Constitution, members may serve on the Committee for continuous periods of up to six years. This means that Glenna and Darlene, who have served from 2009, cannot stand for the Class of 2016, but can stand for either Class of 2015 or 2014. Liesa and Mike have served from 2010, so are eligible for any Class. According to our Constitution, those wishing to run for a seat on the Committee will submit their names to the Nominating Committee, along with a short biography and statement of qualifications (not to exceed 250 words and not mandatory). It is also possible to nominate someone other than yourself, if you have that person's approval. Names and biographies will be posted on the TSFA Website for members to review. In volunteering to stand for election, please write the Nominating Committee at nominate@sackettfamily.info. The closing date for nominations is 21 April. Voting will be from 22 April to 5 May, at an email address set up for the purpose. Results of the voting will be announced promptly after that. These elections are to a seat on the Association Committee, not to a specific office. My father was born there in May 1934. Unfortunately I do not know to much but I do know that my grand-mother and some other members of her family are buried in one of the cemeteries there and was able to locate that via "Find a Grave" website. I have been searching for my grand-father's and uncle's burial information for a few years now with no luck. My grandfather was LaRoy Benjamin Sackett and my uncle was Gary LaRoy Sackett. Gary was killed in a motorcycle accident when he was 16 someplace outside White Lake, SD and my grandfather was killed in a auto accident on August 6, 1966, two months after I was born so i never knew either one of them. Right now all I know is that my dad was born in Rushville and they later ended up in White Lake, SD, where my grandfather came from. Any information you can locate or direct me to would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Hello Michael, I think the Wakefields originally came from the City of Wakefield, though my husbands family came from Northwich in Cheshire. Does there happen to be a Kitchener Sackett in your family tree? I would love to get in contact with the descendants of Vincent Eli and Kathleen. With four of their five children, who were born in various places in India, they migrated back to the UK in 1932 (I think), Kitchener, Patricia (my mother), Brian, Gerald and Delphine (born in Bristol). Hi I am Joan Leary born in Barking Essex and now live in Hornchurch Essex, both my maternal great grandparent's descend from the two original Sacket brothers, they were both born in Birchington and moved to London between 1871/1872/

DeAnna, I don't know that information but I still have some cousins who live either in Rushville or the near-by towns of Hay Springs and Chadron. I never lived there and only visited on three or four occasions. I am Michael Sackett, born in Westminster, London, England, although the previous three generations of Sacketts were born in Fulham, London. My great great grandfather was born in Ramsgate. I have lived in various parts of London, but now live in Bozeat, a small village in Northamptonshire. Unlike Billie Dale Wakefield, who is a Wakefield, but whose mother was a Sackett, I am a Sackett, but my mother was a Wakefield. I am told that the family story is that my great great grandfather William Wakefield came from Swindon, Wiltshire. I haven't yet found any records confirming that, but I have found a William Wakefield, who was born in Fairford, Gloucestershire and moved to Chelsea, London, where my mother's family came from. Swindon and Fairford are only 15 miles apart, so it could be the right William Wakefield. I am working on this at the moment.
