    3. Kari: Instructions for creating a "Source" citation in Version 5.0 of FTM says to put your mouse pointer in the field for which you want to create a source. Then go to "View" on the menu bar. Then select "Source". Then fill in the source information. For census data it would be entered in the "Citation Text" window. If later versions have a different proceedure you can find it by clicking on "Help" and then "search for help on" Type in "sources, recording" and then click on "Display". This should bring up instructions for your version. 3. Cindy- In regard to your reply to Nancy, you stated that Sophia, daughter of Samantha Sackett was baptized in 1818 according to your research (LDS). Sophia was born 11 Feb 1818 and therefore would not have been baptized in 1818. In my records for her baptism I have the date of 16 Mar 1845 but I do not have a place. I too am still looking for more information on Samantha Sackett and I am wondering if there is a way to get a copy of a marriage license for Samantha and Gideon. This would help us to find out who her parents were and we could possibly get more info from that but I don't know where to get the marriage license. Any suggestions? This one is Zilpha, daughter of Samuel & Jane Spaulding Sackett. She is buried at E. Elba (Springvale Cem.), Genesee Co., NY. She died age 5, January 01, 1828. All the Sackett stones were of the same slate material and all were breaking. Hers was in several pieces. <CLIPPED> I sent Jill Jesson Hernandez in So. 3. Cindy, At www.google.com, if you search for "Springvail Cemetery" or "East Elba Cemetery", you will come up with several sites including those from Genesee County, NY. Doing the same kind of search for "Samantha Sackett", surely brought up the confusion that exists with your ancestor. I see where Mary Lou Sackett of this list corresponded with a G. Lehmann on the subject in 2000. Perhaps Mary Lou or Thurman have discovered more on Samantha since then...? Good luck to you in your search! I'm afraid this doesn't help much but I wanted to forward your message to the list since it appeared to only include me. Perhaps others can help you more! 3. Grace: We're happy to help in any way we can. I checked some military files that Liesa Robarge gave me and found that William and Marvin Sackett both served in the War of 1812 in the NY Militia. William filed on 30 Dec 1857 for pay and reimburment for expenses for his service in 1813. He stated that he was a resident of Alexandira, Jefferson Co. and was age 68. Marvin filed on 20 Jun 1859 for his pay and reimbursment for expenses for his service in 1812. He stated that he was a resident of Lewis Co. and was age 64. This would indicate that the family was located in Lewis Co. before the War of 1812. I trust that you don't have the same thing my wife and I had back in January ... for the whole month !! Ursula Makepeace. The only Sackett families I have in my files who lived in Jefferson Co., NY were members of the family of the founder of Sackets Harbor, Weygant's #307-Augustus Sackett and Minerva Camp and #1221-Erwin Sackett, a son of #545-Lieut. Elijah Sackett and Dorothy Hitchcock. These families were in Jefferson Co., NY during the period including 1822 and neither one has a record of a son named James. Do you have the URL for the marriage record for James Noel Sackett and Ursula Makepeace ? Concerning the birth of Lydia M. do you have the county for Forest, IL ? I have am unable to find it on my map. There are several towns or suburbs with "Forest" in them within the state. Do you have the locations for her parents in the census for 1850? I find the William Sacket (b. 1788) and his father both located in Lowville, Lewis Co., NY in the 1820 census but do not find them in the 1830 census. Recently I found another problem that I was not aware of; somewhere along the line I managed to switch from the database I was using to an earlier backup. Now I need to go back through some of my older backups and compare them to see what I may have "lost" along the way. MORE FUN !!! 3. Thurmon and all, Thanks for the reply. Here are some answers to your questions. The following comes from the Bible record housed at the Roswell P. Flower Memorial Lib Genealogy Dept. The bible was given to this lib. by a daughter (Hattie B. Cumpston) of James and Lydia. Some of the dates were written down by my husbands ancestors and passed through the family. James Noble Sackett b. 4 Jul 1822 Ursula Makepeace Sackett b. 21 May 1827 (also have her born in 1823) William Sacket b. 14 Dec 1788 Sabrina Cartter b. 15 Jun 1800 James Sacket and Ursula Makepeace married 1 Mar 1843 (sorry I had 1844 on the first email). I have more records on Lydia Sackett, b. 1861 in Forrest, Livingston Co. Illinois, so really don't need more on her, but would like to follow the trail back on her parents, etc. In the 1850 Census for Alexandria, Jeff Co. NY the following families are listed: family no. 235 James Sackett, 27, m, farmer, NY Ursula, 22, f, NY Delia, 6, f, NY John H., 5, m, NY Sobrina (should be Sabrina), 1, f, NY and family no. 236 William, 62, m, 800, Mass. Sabina, 50, f, Mass. Harriet, 21, f, NY So I am assuming that the above William is the same one listed in the Bible record and would be the parents of James. The bible record also listed these individuals which appear to be siblings of James, children of William: Eliza, b. 15 Feb 1820 Leonard, b. 18 Nov 1823 George W. b. 5 Nov 1827 Harriet, b. 10 Jan 1827 (this may be wrong as her age in 1850 census was 21 which would make her b. 1829 I guess that is all for now. Hope someone can add to my information or see a connection. Grace Keir researching for my husband Richard

    3. Patty: Thanks for this and the other note. I hadn't thought to check a different spelling of the name. It will be interesting to see how/if Grace responds to my note. I have entered the additional information for Oliver P. Johnson and it will be included in the next update to the website. I'll be looking forward to receiving the rest of the info to be added. I know what you mean about having more information than you realized. In the process of getting my information organized following my hard drive crash I have found information I did not have entered into the database because I had forgotten about having it. Recently I found another problem that I was not aware of; somewhere along the line I managed to switch from the database I was using to an earlier backup. This caused me to drop some of the information for some lines without realizing it. Now I need to go back through some of my older backups and compare them to see what I may have "lost" along the way. MORE FUN !!! 3. Dear Grace; I'm sorry for the delay in responding to your query. I've been involved in a couple of projects which required my attention. Concerning your query about the ancestry of Lydia M. Sackett; it will help greatly if you can provide a bit more information. I've checked through my files and have been unable to find an individual that would match your James Noel Sackett m.
