    3. Thurmon and All, This is to update my line from where the Sacketts book leaves off. 2. My trip to DC has been cut short by all the events here but I have George's record (don't remember how far into the alphabet I ordered this time) I will make sure that I copy it. Maybe there will be more in it. If not it will be Aug before I get back. I really am hoping (but not hopful) that I will get the records done this year. Of course part of the problem is not all the records are at the archives, since those that died later are kept else where (have not figured out that rule yet), and sometimes I have to order them more then once before they pull them for me. 1. William D. Sackett family of Meadville, Pa.
    2. Ted Mudge
    3. I have recently been reviewing LDS Film 1026038, Interments, 1865-1921; index of interments, 1875-1978, Greendale Cemetery (Crawford Co., Pa.). In addtion to the other Sackett families that I have already touched upon, there appears to be another Sackett family, apparently unrelated to the others, buried in Greendale, in another area of the Cemetery: Lot 20, Section 4: Sackett, Caroline DeLong, buried 10 Feb. 1894, age 62 years 9 months 15 days Sackett, William D., buried 25 February 1904, age 84 years Sackett, Eddie, buried 9 April 1860, age 2 years 3 months 7 days Sackett, Clara E., buried 26 June 1928, age 75 years 5 months Sackett, Marietta, buried 8 March 1953, age 89 years 8 months 15 days I don't know if or how these persons are related to the Zavan Sackett family & descendants, who seem to account for all of the other Sacketts of Meadville. There undoubtedly are other members/descendnats of the Sackett family who are buried in Greendale, particularly those who 'daughtered out' and are buried under other surmanes. But the film was sent back before I realized that I needed to spend more time researching it. Ted Mudge

    3. WHEREAS Sarah, 1st wife of Levi Dewey Sackett, died at a young age in October 1864, leaving Levi, then aged 36, with infant children; and WHEREAS Ariet, 2nd wife of Levi Dewey Sackett, also died at a relatively young age in December 1971, again leaving Levi, then aged 43, with infant childrem; then THEREFORE it is entirely likely and probable than Levi married for a third time, to 'Mary', possibly on 21 February 1873. It is also likely & probable that, given their ages at the time, Mary had been previously married & had had children, including Said Hunter. This probably was a maariage of neccessity / convenience for both Levi & Mary. I don't find a Mary Sackett buried in Greendale Cemetery, where Levi & his first 2 wives are buried; perhaps Mary's burial location is related to her previous marriage/family. Just one man's opinion :>) Ted Mudge

    3. Regarding Emily E., 2nd wife of Jabez Sackett: I think Weygant has her death date as May 15, 1852 (I remain confused as to which Web page contains Weygant’s original work). But Thurmon finds her listed as alive in the 1860 Census (as wife of Jabez), age 63, and in the1880 Census (as mother of Levi Dewy Sackett), age 83. She was also listed in the 1870 Census, as Jabez’ wife, age 73, on the same page as sons Edward B.R. Sackett and Levi D. Sackett & daughter Flavia Wright. I have recently been reviewing LDS Film 1026038, Interments, 1865-1921; index of interments, 1875-1978, Greendale Cemetery (Crawford Co., Pa.), which lists an Emilie E. Sackett, buried December 1885, age 89 years 1 day. This age is consistent with the ages found in the Census’, placing her birth circa December 1796, eight years younger than Jabez. I believe that this person is likely Jabez Sackett’s 2nd wife. (Jabez is buried between his two wives; Anna on one side & Emily of the other.) So what about the Emily who died May 15, 1852?? Also buried in the same Lot & Section of Greendale Cemetery are Jabez Sackett’s brother, Zavan, who died December 6 1857. Next to this Zavan is buried an Emily. Weygant (I think) lists this Zavan as having a wife, Emily. I believe that the Emily who died May 15, 1852 was the wife of this Zavan. A word about Greendale burials -- The cemetery includes many people who were originally buried at some other location & were later re-interred in Greendale, including several Sacketts. Other than a basic plat map or chart in the cemetery’s office, which shows just the names & burial locations, there doesn’t seem to be any records presently available that provide information on these early re-interments. 3. Ted's post concerning the family of Levi Dewey Sackett and his family raises a question concerning his wives. According to Weygant, p. 234 Dewey Sacket married (1) Sarah E. Palmer on 13 Apr 1859; (2) Harriet Palmer on 21 Feb 1873. As stated in my previous post; Dewey Sacket is listed in the 1860 census with his wife Sarah and in the 1870 census he is listed with Ariet M. as his wife. According to the cemetery listing posted by Ted; Ariet M. died in 1871. Doing a search of the 1880 census I find: Census Place Mead, Crawford, Pennsylvania Family History Library Film 1255119 NA Film Number T9-1119 Page Number 235A Dewey SACKETT Self M Male W 52 MA Farmer MA MA Mary SACKETT Wife M Female W 51 PA Housekeeper PA PA Mary SACKETT Dau S Female W 20 PA School Teacher MA PA Howard SACKETT Son S Male W 16 PA MA PA Schuyler SACKETT Son S Male W 12 PA MA PA Herman SACKETT Son S Male W 10 PA MA PA Grace SACKETT Dau S Female W 8 PA MA PA Emely SACKETT Mother W Female W 83 CT CT CT Said HUNTER Dau S Female W 21 PA School Teacher PA PA This census information raises two questions: 1) Was Mary a 3rd wife for Dewey whom he married on 21 Feb 1873? 2) Based upon information previously posted to the SACKETT-L: Crawford County Genealogy journal published the Craighead Funeral Register for funerals in the period 1849 - 1852. "Mrs. Emily Sacket"; I had shown that Mrs. Emily Sacket had died in 1852. But here in 1880, she is listed in Dewey's household as his mother age 83. Does anyone have information to clear this up? 3. Ted: Thank you for the information. I had raised the question of Levi Dewey Sackett and the probable duplication by Weygant but we didn't do much "hashing out" of the problem. Your post caused me to go back and review my notes and I find that I have some information that should have caused me to question even more the information in Weygant and the Dewey Genealogy. The 1860 census shows Dewey Sackett and his wife Sarah in the household of Jabez B. Sacket 1860, Mead Twp., Crawford Co., PA.; Page 2649/2532 Sacket, Jabes B. 71 m MA [Sacket] Emily 63 f CT Sacket, Dewey 31 m PA Sacket, Sarah 30 f NY Sacket, Royal 64 m MA Sacket, Mary 1/12 f PA Then the 1870 Census shows Levi D. Sacket's household as: 1870; Mead Twp., Crawford Co., PA; 59/56 Sacket], Levi D. 42 m farmer PA [Sacket], Ariet M. 38 f NY Sacket, Mary E. 10 f PA Sacket, Howard 6 m PA Sacket, Schuyler 2 m PA Sacket, Heman P. 8/12 m PA Palmer, Clarina A. 28 f teacher NY This makes it obvious that Levi Dewey Sacket and Ariet/Harriet Palmer were married before the 21 Feb 1873 date given by Weygant and the Dewey Genealogy. I will remove the Sarah _____ from being the wife of Weygant's 1307-L. Dewey Sacket and include a modified note which reads: "Weygant, p. 152; '1307. L. Dewey Sacket, m. Sarah ______'. This individual appears to be a duplicate of 1304-Dewey Sacket and, therefore, an error on the part of Weygant."
