Cindy, I'm sorry no. Everything for Ohio is as follows: Ohio Early Land Ownership Records Ohio Land Records US House of Representative Private Claims, Vol. 1 US House of Representative Private Claims, Vol. 2 US House of Representative Private Claims, Vol. 3 Wayne County, Ohio Tax Lists, 1913, 1914 and 1916. You may want to try telephoning the Lake County Ohio Clerk of Court. They typically can point you in the right direction. Or you can do what I do.....make an excuse to go on vacation to that particular area. I don't know what other attractions there are in the area, but a day trip or two to a courthouse is a welcome distraction for me. For those who (like myself) are descended from John Noble and Abigail Sackett, there is a very good list called Noble-Warriner. The address of the list is NobleWarriner@yahoogroups.com I am not sure if you can subscribe to that list the same as rootsweb lists (don't remember how I got subscribed), but anyone can email cbenner174@aol.com and ask Carol how to get subscribed.
Hi Grace, Due to spam, you must be a subscriber to SACKETT-L before you can post. RootsWeb says your email address of rkeir@hickorytech.net is not subscribed. You are obviously subscribed to SACKETT-L since you read Kari's offer so you must be subscribed with a different email address or perhaps you read of her offer from RootsWeb's PML Search or the archive...? I checked the lineages under "Subscribers" on the web page and I don't find you listed. I'd love to add your connection below (and your relationship if you wouldn't mind sharing it with us) but we need to figure out which email address is subscribed first. Hello List, A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the Genealogical Instutute of Mid America in Springfield, Illinois. It is 4-5 day program put on by the Illinois State Genealogical Society. While there I met two people who had interest in the Sacketts. The first lives in Salisbury Township a bit NW of Springfield near Petersburg and New Salem. Salisbury was originally Sackett Township and was changed in the mid 19th Century to Sodom then to Salisbury. She brought me information from some Sangamon Co histories on the Sacketts. A Claudius C. Sackett and his family and a Thomas Sackett and his. There is a Christopher Mosteller who married a Phebe Sackett. These families appear to have been in Ohio before coming to Sangamon Co. IL between the late 1820s and 1837. I would be happy to share this information with anyone interested. She also gave me a listing of those people buried in the Sackett (a.k.a. "Old Sacket") Cemetery. The Sackett Cemetery appears to be in Gardner Township which adjoins Salisbury. The second person is interested in contacting anyone who have Sackett connections to the Noble Family. Thomas Noble of Boston who m. Hannah Warriner and had a son John who m. Abigail Sackett b. 21 Sep 1663 and died 1682 in Westfield. This person is interested in Thomas Noble's origins. Can anyone help? Hope you all are having a great summer. Patty B
Hi everyone! Has anyone ever extracted from the court, probate & land records on Ancestry.com? This would include wills, title extracts, guardianships, etc. If not, I would be happy to work on them until my subscription expires or I do, whichever comes first! Kari Roehl

Hello All, In a book called "At Home with Beatrix Potter", by Susan Denyer, there is a description of the parlor at Beatrix's house, Hilltop, which involves some portraits from a house called Belmount which Beatrix had bought from an American woman named Rebecca Owen in 1937. The passage goes as follows: The fireplace is flanked by silhouettes. Some of the silhouettes came from Belmount. Coincidentally, in sorting out Rebecca Owen's papers after her death, Beatrix came across a pedigree of her mother's family traced back to 'Simon Sackett 1602-1645, colonist,...understood to have been a native of Ely'. She wrote of three of the silhouettes: 'I think these are Miss Owen's maternal grandparents and Aunt Sackett.' The 'shades', as Beatrix called them, are oval in simple cushion frames. One shows a lady in a bonnet." I looked up Miss Owen in the Sacketts book, she is #4979, daughter of Catherine Ann Sackett (#2239) and Henry Owen, and is listed as living at Belmont Hall, Outgate, Ambleside, England, at the time the book was written. There is a photograph of the fireplace in the book and one can just see the silhouettes but they are too small in the picture to see very clearly. The house is in the Lake District and belongs to the National Trust. Earlier in the book is this quote from Beatrix Potter's writing: ('Rebecca Owen... is an American who has lived for a great many years near Hawkshead - a remarkable old person, must be nearly 80; lipstick, pink nails, a handsome car, and lives in a large house alone.') According to the book, Beatrix also brought some of Miss Owen's American furniture to Hilltop where it can still be seen. This is a very beautiful book, by the way. Hope this is of interest. Regards, Barbara Bell

I can add at least two more reasons to visit the Family History Library during the dates of 10 September through 12 September 2004! 1) The Sackett Family Association's (TSFA) Family Gathering is being held in Salt Lake City on those dates. You will find more information about this gathering at: http://www.geocities.com/sackettreunion/index.htm or for a shorter URL, use: http://snipurl.com/7uor 2) Meet your fellow surname researchers up close and personal!! :) I personally would love to meet you there between 10 September and 12 September, 2004!! By all means arrange your stay to begin as many days ahead or after this event as your schedule permits, to get in a lot of genealogy research! My husband Bill and I already have our plane tickets and our reservations made at the Holiday Inn - Downtown where the TSFA Family Gathering is being held. It should be a lot of fun and be productive at the same time! I hope you will consider attending the TSFA Family Gathering this year. If you have any questions concerning any of the above, please do not hesitate to ask. Charles, From what I could tell unless someone can identify him we might not know. The lady who has the photo is not related and probably doesn't know but maybe once we have it we can figure it out. Maybe if we get lucky we can find out where she got it from to help narrow it down. Plus once we see the photo we will have time reference.
