Author: lylah160 Surnames: Sackett/Williams Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.sackett/293.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This appears to be correct. I was missing the 1870 census because i couldn't tie in Lucian when he was 3 years old. So, i had Harvey and his children in as a test to see where they would lead and if i could link the two to Lucinda(also given the name Arabella Sackett Williams, born a Sackett). i am still looking for Lucian A. Sackett's Mother and Father (father born in France from previous stated records)...however, stories of a single mother for Lucian have been pasted down the family line leaving me with a break in my family tie to the Sackett side of my family. Stories of coming from Canada have also been widely spread as well, leading me to beleive there may be a link to find in the Canada records. My Great Grandfather was Lucian Sackett, while my Grandfather was William, who received the land in Sumner(now Edgewood/Puyallup, WA) from Lucian and Leah upon their deaths. I was hoping my search would lead to a confirmation of the 1850 census being a definate tie or no! t. So, i do know that the census for 1880, 1900 are my family, but still looking for confirmation on the tie from Lucinda down and the tie between Lucinda (Anabella) to Lucian. Can you confirm this line? Thanks, LYla Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My father is Lyle Arlis Sackett, son to William Sackett, son of Lucian Sackett, and then I can't seem to find the connection to his parents. I was told that he came from Canada, but no records to show this. There was also a tale of coming to America in secret, which may be why I can't find any records either. Was Arabella Sackett Lucinda Williams, Grandmother to Lucian or was Arabella Lucian's Mother? I am so happy you replied to my post I have tracked Lucian's wife's family back to England, and beyond into the 1100's but was road blocked by the Surname Sackett for the past year. 3. Ted, Thank you for an update of the information found on Joyce Tice's Tri-County website. It has been a while since my last visit to her excellent website and I see that new information has been added. Thus far, I have started developing only one Sackett family from the information found there, viz. William Spencer Sackett and his wife Lucy Stephenson. I have been unable to determine who the parents of William S. Sackett are. Since the LDS has set up their "Search Labs FamilySearch Record Search" at: http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=0 I have been using that site to search the 1950-1900 census images [and other resources there] to make connections for some Sacketts and Sackett descendants. However, I had not revisited the problem of trying to make connections for some of the Sacketts found in the Tri-County area covered by Joyce Tice's website. If anyone on the mailing list is willing to use resources available to them to work on these PA families and their connections across the state line into New York ... Your help will be greatly appreciated. 1. [SACKETT] TSFA website updated
    2. Chris Sackett
    3. I have updated The Sackett Family Association website www.sackettfamily.info with the following additions: * India Office records (British Library) * New members 231 Sue Tazey, 232 Michael John Sackett, 233 Pat Williamson My thanks to Jean Carpenter, Kathy James, Alice Sackett, Eva Adams, and Jane Weller, who have sent in pictures. Ancestors' pictures may be viewed at http://sackettfamily.info/ui300.htm and members' pictures at http://sackettfamily.info/ui184.htm. I've also recorded the will provided by Mike Fisher of his ancestor Samuel Sackett (1851-1891). The India Office records raise more questions than they answer - although if anyone can figure out some answers, Peter Sackett would be pleased to know. Thanks also to Wendy Sacket for finding some passenger list data relating to Lyman B Sackett. I have updated the record for Richard Sackett Esq (1717-1789) whose mansion house at East Northdown we saw during the reunion in Thanet last year. This was prompted by the following very odd marriage announcement in the London Morning Star of Friday, July 31, 1789, discovered by a member of the Isle of Thanet List. The Miss Cramp in question was Richard's granddaughter, Sarah, to whom he left most of his considerable fortune. "Yesterday, at St. Peter's Margate, Mr. TOMLIN, jun. of North Down, to Miss CRAMP, with a fortune of, at least, £60,000. Taking their ages together, two-and thirty will be the amount." I've added this unusual item to the Sackett Snippets at bottom right of the Home page. These snippets appear at random each time the web page is loaded, so to see more of them just hit the refresh button repeatedly while viewing the Home page. Regards, Chris Sackett TSFA Webmaster
