    3. I wouldn't bank on the gravestone being any more accurate than Ancestry or any family records. I've seen too many mistakes. Grace in MN -----Original Message----- From: sackett-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:sackett-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of MHS Sent: Sunday, July 01, 2012 7:58 PM To: sackett@rootsweb.com Subject: [SACKETT] Nathaniel Sackett Jr birthdate Late 2011 the Monroe Ohio Historical Society restored the Nathaniel Sackett Jr. family headstones and we will be rededicating them to the city later this year. I am researching Nathaniel's family to see if anyone still exists in the area to invite to this event. I know William Augustus (1808-1901) was living in Cincinnati in 1900. My quandry is that Nathaniel's headstone reads he died on 5 June 1854 at 85 yrs, 7 mos, 12 days. Wouldn't that make his birthdate 24 October 1768? Upon researching him on Ancestry.com I've seen many family trees use the date 21 Oct 1769. To further confuse the issue, our transcribed (not the original) cemetery record has him born on 23 Oct 1768. We now have the original cemetery records in our possession but they have not been cataloged as of yet. I hope to dig into them this week. Just wondering if someone could shed some light on the dates. I was always under the impression to use what was carved in stone. BTW, the restoration looks very nice! 3. Susan, The 21 Oct 1769 birthdate for Nathaniel comes from Weygant's "The Sacketts of America"; p. 86 and that is the date I have in the database. So Weygant is probably the source used by the trees on Ancestry and other places on the internet. Unfortunately, most of the time, Weygant didn't his sources so we don't know where he got that date. HOWEVER, on page 138, Weygant has: Nathaniel Sackett, 1768-1854. So it is possible that the information on page 86 contains a couple of typos. 1. [SACKETT] Sackett Family Association website updated
    2. Chris Sackett
    3. The Sackett Family Association website sackettfamily.info has been updated with the following new and revised pages: * New members 363 Robert Sackett, 364 Gary & Sandy Alger, 365 Elizabeth "Sue" Moore, 366 Dave Pane-Joyce, 367 Darrin W Lettinga, 368 Billie Dale Wakefield * Revised 43 Mike F Sackett * Added genealogical sketches * Flora Susannah Sackett (1847–1933) * Florence Russell (1882–1949) * Added Canada census 1911 (7) * Updated DNA Project (added results for Glenn A Sackett) * Added Ashal Tyler Sackett (1848– ) gallery & descendant chart * Updated Thurmon King's database Many thanks to Association member Anne Murray who has supplied biographical sketches of her grandmother Florence Russell and great-grandmother Flora Sackett. Other members may be inspired to follow Anne's lead and add their contribution to the Sackett story by remembering one of their ancestors. Thanks, too, to new member Darrin Lettinga who has provided a set of family photographs, published here as the Ashal Tyler Sackett gallery. Glenn Sackett's DNA test results place him and his earliest known ancestor Warren J Sackett (c1794–1851) in the same line as Simon Sackett the colonist (the Thanet, Kent, line). The search is on to identify Warren's parents. Thurmon King's database has grown to contain records of 37,154 people (29,823 online) and has an ever-growing amount of data on individuals, as well as more photographs supplied by members. 1. [SACKETT] Nathaniel Sackett Jr birthdate
    2. MHS
    3. Late 2011 the Monroe Ohio Historical Society restored the Nathaniel Sackett Jr. family headstones and we will be rededicating them to the city later this year.
