The Sackett Family Association would like to welcome new member Bill Bonnett #372. I hope that you will find the resources and helpfulness of our group of value to you! There are many ways to take an active role in our organization. The reunions are a great way to connect with family. The 2012 Sackett Reunion will be held this September in Westfield, MA. Contributing to Thurmon King's database is another way to participate. Chris Sackett's newspaper project is an on going bit of work and the website that Chris hosts is really wonderful! Taking an active part in the committee is a great way to work with the organization. So I welcome you to our organization and encourage you to visit the website and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of us. Debbie Barbee TSFA President
With regard to the polo shirts: They will be a cotton blend, green with our reunion stitched onto it. Hope this helps. They will need a minimum of 10 days to have them ready for me. Thurmon, I am delighted to hear you will be attending the reunion. I have added your name to the blog. I assume you'll be bringing those 37,154 Sackett kinfolk with you! Regards, Chris
Anne, This is to let you know that I received your message with the information. And, concerning the reunion; yes, I am planning on attending the reunion. However, my wife will not be there with me. A flight to Arizona and back for out 60th high school class reunion convinced her that she won't be flying again. ... Unless it is absolutely necessary. Hi, It was brought to my attention that it is not indicated on the registration form who to make the check out to. Since the TSFA does not have any money accounts, you will have to make the check out to me, Debbie Barbee. Once I receive your registration form and check, I'll send you a summary of your form including the check number and amount. I think this is the easiest way to handle the money issue. If you have any concerns, please let me know. Debbie Barbee

Wow Cliff, This sounds like a great place to do some digging around, wish I could make it up there but since moving to the Keys I find it harder to get any where - in part it has to do with the whole day of travel just to get there. Sounds like a great place for those who often spend extra days during the reunion to check out on their own. Still hopefull that I will be able to make it but with so much else going on it would be hard to do. Hi Cliff,I'm sorry that your invite was not recognized by us too!! I have been to the Quadrangle and enjoyed touring the museums and taking pictures of the Dr. Seuss characters in the courtyard. We visited the museums after we attended the Big E one year. It was a great time. I was disappointed to see that my invitation, sent nearly a month ago, was not included in the Reunion information. See below. Chris, My bio is quite complete except that we are now residing in Iowa City, Iowa, address is 350 Dublin Dr. 52246. Tel No 319-499-1616. We are about forty miles from my birthplace In Victor. My Grandfather Kirkland or Kirtland is buried in Brooklyn, Iowa along with his parents and some of his siblings. My father and Mother are both buried in the cemetery in Victor, where Mrs Sackett and I are gong to be laid to rest. We had thought of Arlington but have decided that we want to be in Iowa soil'. My Mother lived to be a hundred, my father died quite young, his mid thirties, when I was only two and a half months old. I am the sole surviving member of my Father family, his sisters and offspring have all passed. I fortunately find myself at 92 to be feeling quite well. I have had a series of health problems that now seem to be corrected and look forward to getting back on the golf course. Not bad for a 92 year old. My wife and I will be celebrating our 65th anniversary in August. Let me know if you need more info. Rear Admiral Albert M. Sackett, welcome back to the Sackett Family Association! I'm glad to be the one to rewelcome you to our organization. I hope that you can tell what a great group of people we still have! Glad to have you back! Debbie Barbee TSFA President
Welcome new member #371, Kathleen Johnson, from Delaware Co., Ohio! There must be a lot of history for you in your area since your family has lived there for so many generations!! That's good luck for you, and for us! Welcome to our group. I hope that you will find any help that you might need within our Sackett Family Organization. Again, welcome. Debbie Barbee TSFA President
Welcome Caroline, new member #370! From a brief glance at Thurmon's database I see that your father is not listed there. I'm really excited to see more people want to get connected to their family tree. The fact that your father was born in India sounds very interesting to me. That's certainly not the immigration track that I'm used to seeing. I hope we'll hear more from you, I'd like to know how, when and why this Sackett branch was (still is) in India. Welcome to the group and good luck getting connected!! Debbie Barbee TSFA President
Welcome Judy and Byron, new members #369! No matter why you chose to join our group, we welcome you!!! I am still waiting for someone in our families to come to me for help with a genealogy project!! I hope that you will find a lot of help here within our group. Chris' website is award winning! Thurmon's knowledge and willingness to help is remarkable. The members of the group are always ready with some insight or thoughts. I'm hoping that not only will the grandkids' projects go well, but that your family will discover an enduring interest in genealogy. Good luck, and have fun with the search!! I had seen that your name had been added as a Notable Sackett on the Sackett (surname) Wikipedia page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sackett_%28surname%29 . The item is unlinked as there is not an article to link to. I offered to help write an article if you could provide the basic data. After some research, Ted Smith, one of our members, found some biographical details written by Joe Havens and published in "Chief: the evolution, development and role of the chief petty officer in the United States Naval Service." (Turner Publishing Company, 1996.) I have used that material in the Notable Sacketts section of the Sackett Family Association website at http://www.sackettfamily.info/g128/p128774.htm .
