Hi all, I recently found some interesting information on my great grandfather Felix F. SIDOR, or SIDOROFF. Apparently, he entered the monastery to become a Roman Catholic priest, back in 1880 or so, in Lithuania. Discovering he was not priest material, he entered the Russian Military Academy to become an army officer. Upon graduation (high honors) he had a dispute with his superiors and fled to Ireland. He traveled around Europe until he emigrated to the US in 1889, with his wife, Anna STANKUS SIDOR. Felix was highly educated, and came from a distinguished family. He had an uncle in the Russian army that retained his General status until he was 104 yrs old. Felix also had a cousin who fought for the czar in the Japanese war. I am quoting most of this from a newspaper article telling of Felix's death from a streetcar accident in 1910 in Grand Rapids, Mich. My question is: where can I write to verify this information? Is there a website that might help me find more information on Felix? His naturalization papers revealed only his name and a witness' name. I would really love to find his birth city, and his parents names! Can any of you experts point me in the right direction with this puzzle? Thank you very much in advance.... Mary (Cdogger@aol.com)
