Hi I have been reading the emails about all the different lists that pertain to European names. My grandfather's name was Gregory Hrinkevich. I have his naturalization papers and it states that he was born in Minsk Russia. I have had other people tell me that he is Lithuanian, but my father says not that he spoke Russian. I know that he came over here in 1914 and he was naturalized in 1936 . My dad told me that the reason that his father waited so long to become naturalized is because he always expected to go back home to Russia, but he figured that after 20 years he wasn't going anywhere. He married in Conn. I have his marriage license. I can't find his Social Security number, and I know that he had one and I can't find his death certificate. Which I know that he is dead, I know where he is buried. I know where he used to live but that house is long gone. Can someone tell me how or where I can go about getting some more information on him? I know that he owned a Cab company in New York and sold it when his son got sick to pay for his medical expenses. He moved to Philadelphia Pa after that son died. He later worked as a mechanic. My father either has selective memory or he just doesn't remember. Also my Aunt mentioned to me that he worked at Yale and Towne, but I can't find the one that he worked at and I don't think that they would keep records from that long ago! Can someone please help? I have been working on this since I was 16 I am 36 now and I am almost no farther than I was before. Thanks so much, I never knew my grandfather he died before I was born and my father is really reluctant to talk about his home life. Carol Rankin crankin@camden.net
