Hello I've just joined this list & I've only seen a couple of messages in the last few days, but I'm going to post this in the hope that some-one out there will be able to assist. (That's assuming there are people out there. :) An ancestor of mine was a man called Daniel Dunglas HOME. His claim to fame was the fact that he could levitate himself. He did this so well that he used to perform in front of Royalty. He married Alexandrina DE KROLL on 1 August 1858 in St. Petersburg. Her father was Count .....DE KROLL, & she was the Goddaughter of Czar Nicholas. (Probably the Czar had thousands of Godchildren.) They had a son on 8 May 1859, on the Gargarine Quay, St. Petersburg (Christened 22 May 1859). I do not know this boy's name except that the nickname Gricha appears. Is this a boys nickname or proper name? I am trying to find out what happened to him. He had an impressive list of Godparents:- Marquis de Chateaureynard Count Gregoire DE KROLL (uncle) Countess Luba DE KROLL (aunt) Sophie ?? (relative) His mother died in the Dordogne, France 3 July 1862 His father died near Paris 21 June 1886 Does anyone have any info on the boy, or info on where I can look? Thank you, & apologies for such a long message. Charles Home
