He died between Dec 1917 - Jan 1918 in Nansemond Co - Holland VA just 3 months before my father's birth. Then his wife (Mattie S. Hare Russell) died a few weeks after my dad was born from childbirth complications. Prior to marrying my grandmother, Willis had two sons from a previous union. My late dad (also named Willis Russell) never knew his parents, and was raised by his mother's sister in Norfolk VA. He did know his siblings, but knew little of his family genealogy - especially my grandfather's side. Here's what I do know: My grandfather had two sons before he married my grandmother. I don't know where or when they were born or died. I do know that they lived in VA and NY over their lifetimes.
