Copyright 2002. All rights reserved. Mary Ellen Russell 1928-2002 Mary Ellen Russell, 74, of Pine Bluffs died on May 22 at 3128 Boxelder Drive in Cheyenne. She was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Madison, Neb., a daughter of Clarence and Stella (Purdy) Nahrstedt. She graduated high school at Madison and then attended Wayne State University and later the University of Nebraska. She received her teaching certificate and taught school for several years in Norfolk and Friend, Neb. She and Boyd E. Russell were married on June 12, 1949, in Madison. After their marriage, they lived in Dix, Neb., for five years and then moved to the Pine Bluffs area where Mr. Russell farmed before moving into town. Mrs. Russell was a member of the United Methodist Church of Pine Bluffs and took an active part in the United Methodist Women's group, the Rebekah Lodge, the Order of the Eastern and the Triangle Club in Pine Bluffs. She enjoyed bowling and playing bridge and she and Mr. Russell belonged to a Pinochle Club. She is survived by her husband Boyd of Pine Bluffs; three sons, Richard L. Russell of Cheyenne, Boyd Eugene Russell, Jr. of Sterling, Colo., and Kenneth D. Russell of Leander, Texas; one daughter, Lynn Schneider of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Dale Nahrstedt of Lincoln, and Verl Nahrstedt of Madison; and one sister, Jean Radiant of Madison. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Pine Bluffs with the Rev. Terilynn Russ officiating. Burial will be in Kimball Cemetery. No visitation or viewing is scheduled. Friends may give memorial gifts to the Alzheimer's Association, Pine Bluffs Methodist Church or to a charity of their choice. The Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball is in charge of arrangements. Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are. This is here as a lasting memorial for Mrs. Russell.
