    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oZEBAIB/3275.1 Message Board Post: Once again, you probably have this information, but here goes: Elam Mitzel Russell (who was a doctor according to my notes) was born about 1873. He was the son of John Benjamin Russell (b. about 1828 in Tennessee) and Charlotte Knight (m. October 4, 1860 in Smith County Tennessee and daughter of Henry Knight and Rhoda Hester). John Benjamin Russell was the son of Elam Russell, b. 1802 in Virginia. This Elam married Artemicia Cornwell, daughter of Charles Cornwell and Millie Cornwell. Besides John Benjamin, Elam and Artemicia had a son named James "Franklin" Russell, b. about 1827 and a son named Elijah "Hampton" Russell, b. about 1844 in Tennessee. They also, among other children, had a daughter named Patsy Russell who married, guess who--a man named "Pink" Law. (I believe that takes care of the uncles). Now Elam's father was John Russell, b. in 1778 in Virginia and died about March 1851 in Smith County, Tennessee. He married Martha Granade. And that's as far as I c! an get you because no-one has been able to figure out who John's parents are. This John's brother, also an Elam, came with him from Virginia and this Elam is my ancestor. Good luck finding the missing link. I have a wild lead but doubt it is anything. I noticed in my hunting for Elams that some Russells migrated to Australia and one generation of them was named Elam and another generation had a John. And guess where they were from -- somewhere around Great Britain. Perhaps they were relatives. Don't know. Will try and contact these Russells for some info.
