This was found in a box of my Grandmother Russell. I have no idea who these Russell's are. Or what newspaper the article was clipped. 3500 ATTEND COUNTY FAIR ON OPENING NIGHT Off to a fine start with an attendance of approximately 3500 persons at the opening last night, the 91st annual Lorain County Fair (OHIO) today entered its second day with an all day and a night program arranged. (Two more paragraphs giving more info on the fair. If someone desires this info, let me know and I will get it to you. Otherwise, I will get to the heart of the newspaper clipping) Featuring the afternoon and evening today will be an entertainment program in front of the grandstand. Greyhound and goat races, the Morris acrobatic troupe, the Darwood Circus Troupe, the FAMOUS RUSSELLS, the Elyria high school band and several novelty acts will be the attractions. A bathing beauty contest will be a feature of the evening. W. H. Russell, age 60 and weiging 190 pounds, who is known as the "world's oldest strongman" has been added to the afternoon program on Thursday and Friday. His routine, includes the placing a huge stone on his stomach while he rests his head on one chair and his feet on another---then another man breaks the stone with a sledgehammer. He also holds a 300 pound stone on his head and has it broken with a sledgehammer. (So, does anyone know anything about these Famous Russells?) marvalene@columbus.rr.com
