Married ca.1828, Willet, Cortland County, NY, John Dennis Edwards, (born 1805, Willet, NY, died 1871, Anamosa, Jones County, IA.) Origins of the family (and birthplace) of Mariette/Maryette Russell are unknown. Russell families found in Cortland County in 1820 Census with (unamed) female children of right age are; Josiah Russell, in Willet, Thomas Russell and Josiah Russell in Marathon, all with female children of the right age who could be Mariette. Family history says that the family came from Pennsylvania in an oxcart. The 1850 Cortland Census indicates she was born in NY, (Willet being the obvious place)other sources suggest New Hampshire or Connecticut. Any Russell descendants of these Cortland County lines are of interest to me.
