    1. [RUSSELL-L] Turley Russell property Virginia
    2. Mary Majesty
    3. Hi I have the book "Property Lines from the Old Survey Books, Pittsylvania County, VA 1746-1840" by Roger C. Dodson. Some of the property owned by both these families(Turley and Russell) crossed over to Henry Co., VA and Franklin Co.,VA. In fact Franklin Co is where my early Pittsylvania Co., VA people were married. They were the Shorter family and lived in the Calland area. Sorry but none were neighbors according to these ownership records, however some may have rented? John Turley, Jr had 23 acres in 1804. Grid 12-H William Russell had 367 in 1764, br of Double Cr., 121 p Grid 15-B(some neighbors in 1764 were Henry Talley, William King, Timothy Stamps, Zachariah Waller) William Russell had 274 in 1779, brs fall Cr, Grid 14-C(some neighbors in 1779 were Orlanda Smith, John Watters, William Lynch) John Russell had(in one area) 1,200 acres, gt br of Cascade Cr.(SW corner of Co.) in 1754 Grid 10-A(neighbors were later dates, 1762 William Edwards, Henry Rice, John Rice John Danelson). Just south of this property is Rockingham Co., North Carolina. John Russell had(in another area) 434 acres in 1749, 344 acres in 1751(N Dan River) and 404 acres in 1751(Ss Dan River), Grid 11-A.Is there a possible bridge owner?(neighbors were later dates, 1780 Wm Call, 1762 James Cox, 1756 Nicholas Perkins, and by that Dan River property a Constant Perkins 1778 12 acres Ss Dan River. There is no real explanation of the notes or shorten words. I can only say that the writer of this compilation of surveys did obtain the information from documents and it took a long time to get this all together. Also there was Pittsylvania Co., VA landowners per 1797 land Tax, list in the Piedmont Lineages Vol XXI No. 4, 1999 which gave Russell names of Ezekiel, John, and William and Turley names of John, John and John, Jr. Smiles, Mary in Alabama P.S. I'm not sure these people lived on this land. On Tue, 1 Oct 2002 13:22:12 EDT PJAFLA@aol.com writes: > I am looking for a marriage for Jane Turley. She was born about 1775-80. Her parents were John Turley and Martha. Her parents were living in Pittsylvannia County Va until the early part of 1800. Jane is in Kanawha County Va (WV after it became a state) in 1809. She is on the 1810 Census of Kanawha listed as head of household and she is in the age bracket of 26-45. She has several children two of which are listed as 0-10 years of age. She is also listed on the 1820 and one of these children who was 0-10 is still that age. I have checked Pittsylvannia County and there is no record of her marriage. I believe she named one of her sons David and another Peyton. I believe the Peyton was after a Turley relative. Could those of you who have Va Russell connections please check to see if you > might have a possible husband for this Jane. Or maybe some idea of what might have happened to him? > Thanks could use some advice and help with this brick wall > Pj > > ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
