However, as a descendant of John and Hannah Russell of St. Clair Co, MI, I have to disagree with the ancestry.com record. I do not believe that John Russell/Ane Vidgen from Canterbury/Kent, and my John Russell/Hannah from St. Clair, MI, are the same couple. The John Russell in St. Clair Co, MI, is known to have emigrated from England to Michigan in 1830. He is known to have had at least four children: Reuben b 1822, Simon, b. 1824/25, Caroline, b 1829, and an unknown daughter b. aft 1830, who prob died before age 20. The 1840 Census record, MI-St. Clair,St.Clair shows him with a wife and four children, ages correct for the four children cited above. Some online records show the other couple (John Russell/Ane Vidgen) having children born in England throughout the 1830's. One FamilyTrees record shows the family moving to Ontario, Canada, not MI. In any case the two John Russells are not a match.
